Hello,

I was in WDW this April for the first time and unfortunately thinking it’ll be my first and last time, I over did it and I did not enjoy myself at all because of feet pain. I have BAD spur problem on both of my feet and I thought I had prepared myself by getting orthotics, pain killer, etc. but within hour of walking, I was already in pain. Because we wanted to get most rides as we can for each park, we never took breaks and went to parks (including Universal) for 7 days straight from rope drop to late night.

Anyway, it looks like I might be going again November 4th through 12th because my son is doing Food and Wine 10K and ½ marathon and wants me to go with him. In April, we were fortunate to do most of the rides for all parks so in November I want to do something different. Instead of concentrating on rides, I want to do more of “sightseeing” at the parks, take many breaks, and take more pictures. Looking at the pictures from April made me realize that I didn’t have much of pictures as I thought.

I would love to hear ideas from all you experts, what I can do to make myself more enjoyable.

Some of things I thought of:

· Take advantage of EMH and take break by going back to the resort (did not do EMH in April because we were going by easyWDW recommended days) to take a nap and maybe go back later evenings

· Try few TS (since we had CS last time) such as Sanaa, Beaches & Cream, 50s Prime Time Café, Sci-Fi Dine-In, and Kona Café since we didn’t do any TS in April to try to save time. Not into buffet or character dining since we are adults.

Most likely we’ll be staying at Pop again. Read other posts about doing:

· Explore other resorts – which ones would be best and to get there, would I have to go to closest park, get off, and then ride bus to different resort?

· Boat and monorail rides – where is the best place to ride them and get off?

· Boardwalk – other than restaurants, what is there to see?

Any other suggestions? Thank you

Wow, sorry you had to deal with that pain. Disney really is SO much walking. I hope it's better for you in November. You can explore all of the resorts on the monorail path very easily. Also, Art of Animation is just a walk across the bridge from POP and it's very cute. We also like to take the ferry at least once a trip, just for fun. On our Epcot day, when we leave we will take the monorail to the transportation center, get off and take the ferry across to MK. Then hop the bus back to POP. Ft Wilderness is another fun one to explore. You can take a boat from MK there as well.

The only restaurant we have tried on your list is Sci-Fi and it was a neat experience. I think you will like it.

I think you have a good plan for this trip, lots of breaks and take it easy. If you had some rides you loved, get fastpasses and just do them.

Thank you. I wanted to go to Art of Animation in April but seem so far away with my hurting feet so I didn't make it. So in November I will definitely going to Art of Animation.

My suggestion is to schedule sit-down meals close to your location for the day. For example, if you want to eat at Sanaa, schedule it on a day that you plan to be at Animal Kingdom and take the bus from there to the AKL. I would suggest the same for anything around the Boardwalk, including Beaches and Cream. It would be easier to take the boat or walk from DHS or Epcot than it would be to travel from your home resort to the Boardwalk resorts (if you're using Disney transportation).

After many trips to the World, we've learned how to minimize our bus time and walking, which for us is key to having a relaxing vacation. We've learned that rope drop is our friend and that afternoon breaks are essential. For counter service we eat somewhere nearby, rather than crisscrossing the park or making a special trip to a resort. We schedule sit-down meals near our location for the day (some we schedule at the 180-day mark; others we schedule that day). Our favorite relaxing activity is to walk around World Showcase, something we do almost every evening of our trips.

I hope you'll have a wonderful trip with your son!

My mom has bad back pain and sometimes can't walk as much. We really try to mix up the rides and attractions so that we have a several minute break ever hour/half-hour, whatever. We rent a car so that she for sure has a seat back from the parks in the evening.

We also always say that if it gets really bad that we're rent a wheelchair and take turns pushing her around from attraction to attraction to save her just that much walking. Once she gets to an attraction, she'd be able to walk through the line. We've never actually had to rent a wheelchair but I think that the fact that it is an option eases her mind a bit.

Why don't you rent a power scooter? My dad has bilateral knee replacements. He can normally get around just fine without any issues, but Disney is a whole different story. His knees get quite achy after a lot of heavy walking. 4 trips ago we convinced him to try a scooter. (He was quite resistant at first) Boy let me tell you! Even he admits it's the best decision he'd ever made. What a difference it made for that trip and he hasn't gone without a scooter since. A scooter just may give you a great deal of freedom.

I agree with scheduling your TS meal around the park/area you are going to be. It makes a huge difference in walking. We are rope drop fans and then we head back to our resort for our afternoon pool break. Our TS meal is then at the park we are going to for the evening. We love Magic Kingdom so on one of those evening we eat at OHana and then go to Magic Kingdom after our meal. It works for us and helps our feet too. Have a great trip.
