Need Advice on JetBlue ASAP

Thanks in advance for any advice.
I got a credit for Jet Blue for $140, because the price of my one way flight dropped (4 TICKETS). I talked to Jet Blue and they said that there are only 2seats available at an even lower fare, but since I need 4 seats they would have to split the reservation into 2 new reservations (one with lower fare, and one with existing fare) and I could save an additional $100. I was leary about having 2 reservations, but they said they could still probably give me the same seats it they rebooked right away, and it was just a matter of checking in with 2 reservations and having to make changes to 2 instead of 1 reservation, if I needed to to do so. Has anyone ever booked 2 reservations to get some of the seats at a lower rate? For now, I left it under one reservation, but am wondering if I should call back and switch to get an even bigger credit?

I have booked 2 reservations because of using freq flyer. It wasn't with Jetblue, but Delta and they kept the 2 reservations linked. I would split the reservations to get the lower fare on 2. Jetblue should be able to keep the reservations linked in some way.
