Hello all,

We are in the midst of booking our Dec 05 trip and are going to stay 4 nights at BWV and 2 nights at the Grand Floridian. We've been to BW before but never to the GF. Does anyone know of Castle View rooms at the GF? We know we need to have a Lagoon view, but there are so many buildings that are included in the Lagoon view it can make your head spin. Any help from previous GF'ers would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Recently stayed at GF lagoon view. We were in Big Pine Key, room 9343 and had a perfect view of MK and all that comes with that, plus Poly and Contemporary. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it. It was SO magical!

Be prepared that your request for a Castle view, will be just that: a request ... specific views are not guaranteed and as you might imagine, a view of the castle is a popular request! Also, there are not a lot of rooms with a castle view, so you can only hope. There are some garden view rooms with amazing views of the Lagoon, MK Train Station, top of Space Mountain and the CR - the castle is blocked, but the view is incredible - you can see WHISHES at night as though it's a private screening, as well as the EWP.

Our room was an end room in Boca Chica - we asked for this building because we preferred the floral design as opposed to Alice etc. We were upgraded to an end room with 2 balconies and a view of everything, but we did not in any way expect that!! Incredible! I would have been delighted with the view mentioned above for the Garden rate! :)

Good luck and hope you get the view you'll love!

We had a Lagoon View in Boca Chica with a beautifull view of the Castle. The castle is still in the distance but the water view is awesome. Wonderfull room, top notch resort, great pool, beach, restaurants and right on the monorail. GF is our favorite.

I requested an Alice room when I made ressies. But also booked a garden view. We were upgraded to a lagoon view (went in Sept.) in Conch Key, and had a lovely view of the castle to the right-hand side. Loved watching it change color. And it was an Alice room.

Our room was directly above the Yacht that they rent - Grand 1, I believe.

GF was not our favorite resort, but the Gasparilla Food Court was closed for refurbishment, and the resort seemed confused about it! LOL! Whole place a little stuffy for us. Total IMHO.

I hope you have a great time there!

well when i stay at the GF I want to be in an alice room
oh I wish
Ok, I've stayed at GF several times but have no idea what an Alice room is. Can someone help me out please?

To the original poster, we have requested and received dormer rooms in the past which are on the top floors of each building. They are great because they have vaulted ceilings so feel bigger but have very small balconies.

poohj80- Alice refers to those rooms decorated in the Alice in Wonderland theme.

sydconmom - I think Boca Chica and Conch are your best bets for castle view. Just remember that Magic Kingdom view and castle view are different requests. If you want castle, make sure you request castle!

We stayed in a Lagoon View room last year in Boca Chica. It was STUNNING. It was a corner room (8345) on the 3rd floor. It had a small corridor when you entered and at the end you turn left into the room. It was HUGE! It had 2 balconies! One faced the Magic Kingdom and the other faced towards CTR, WL and Poly. You could sit and watch the EWP every night and Wishes was like a private viewing you could hear the music clearly! I was very glad we got this room as we had to spend 11/2 days in there due to the Hurricane!

I sent an email about 4 days before our arrival requesting a corner room, and when we arrived it was granted.

Here are pictures of our view if you’re interested.

Thank you all for your responses. Spacemountain UK...your pictures were gorgeous, and just what we are looking for. May I ask, was that a "standard" lagoon view room, or a suite or one of the other million category rooms they have at the GF? If it was a standard, I will be requesting that specific room. We understand that a request is just that, and nothing is guaranteed. We are DVC members, and have some extra points and DH has always wanted to stay at the GF. I agreed, but told him we had to to a lagoon view and try to get a castle view for double the points of a BWV 1 bedroom! He happily agreed.

Thanks again everyone!

The top photo looks like a lagoon view room. At least that's a very similar view to what we have had in the past. That photo is close to what you will see with your naked eye. Some of the others might be telephoto pics.

This truly made me smile as it goes to show how personal each room/resort feels to the guest. :)

We found the dormer room to feel incredibly small!! The other rooms, with the full balcony have so much more light and with the high ceiling gave us a roomier and lighter feel.

Wonderful, isn't it, how each of us finds what we love?? :flower1:

PS We also stayed in room 8345!!!! That is a truly magical room!!

Yes it was really amazing!! It is a normal standard Lagoon View room, NO extra charge for these rooms which is great as they are very large! and having 2 balconies was wonderful!!

All you need to do is put in a request for a corner room, and hope for the best!! good luck!!
