I'm not going to cry, I'm not going to cry.......

Instead of spending 7 days in Disney the week before Christmas, we got to spend 10 days in the hospital with DS. The trip was planned because DS has had such a hard year medically, we were heart broken to say the least. Now, I have to file all the vacation insurance for both my family as well as my parents. We were planning to fly out the day he was admitted, so we will get the refund to cover the airline tickets. My parents drove and had arrived a day before us (1 night in the hotel) and used 1 day of their 8 day ticket before leaving that evening. I know we will be returning, I am just not sure when.

My question is, how will their refund be figured since the tickets were used? Would it be more advantageous for my parents to file for a refund or to plan another trip and roll over the credit since they used part of their tickets?

Thanks!

I can't answer your questions, but just wanted to say that I hope your son is on the road to recovery and that I'm sorry that your trip didn't happen as planned. I know that is such a disappointment! Hope you can make it to DW very soon!

Thank you for the well wishes. He is doing much better and I am starting to plan another trip. We really want to go at Christmas, but the school calendar will not come out till Feb. And we also have to wait and see when and what the next discount is going to be. :thumbsup2

I would think they would pro-rate the one used day and refund the rest (assuming they weren't non-expiry tickets) but I don't know for sure. You're trip insurance should have a toll free number, best thing to do is call and ask, they should also be able to help you get the ball rolling on your claims.

I'm sorry about your son's ill health, and hope he recovers quickly and you get to reschedule the trip soon.

I spoke to 2 different people at the insurance company and they were not sure about how the tickets would be refunded, the rep at Disney did not know either. :confused3
I guess I will find out when I file the claim.
