Need advice on borrowing and use year

We have Saratoga 150 points, Poly 100 pts, all Aug use year.

Situation, we have a long DVC vacation planned, and I am not sure how to do this given our 2026 May vacation will come ahead of our AUG use year.

2024- we will use up all our points
2025 250 points … will use 40 oct 2025, 185 in dec 2025 balance = 25 points bank?

2026 250 points comes in AUG
Trip planned for May 2026
AK 35 pts
Poly 79x2 p= 184 pts
Saratoga 207 pts
Total 400 pts

Plan is to use 2025 balance 25 points
2026 aug use year 250 points
Borrow 2027 points = 125 points

Are we planning correctly or because May 2026 trip arrives before Aug 2026, we will need to borrow 2026, and not be able to borrow 2027?

Unfortunately this sentiment is correct. If you have an August use year, then in May you'll still be in the prior use year. For May 2026, you're in your Aug 25 UY. You could borrow up to 250pts from 2026UY. You'll still have 25 points from 2025 (that you will NOT have banked, else they won't be available until August 2026)

So you have 275 points and need 125 more. You've got some time. If you buy another contract resale, it probably goes through before the 7 month mark, but not 11. Direct is of course almost immediate.

If you still have trips to go in 2024, you could try to buy up to 24 one time use points, use those, and bank 24 points. Then buy 24 OTU points for 2025. That gets you 48 of the 125 points you need (and OTU points can only be used at 7 months).

You could also rent a reservation from someone, or try transfers. There's a whole board on it here (DVC Rent/Transfer)

A trip in May 2026 falls in your 2025 UY. You could bank points from Aug 2024, use your 2025 allotment and borrow from 2026. You cannot borrow from 2027 for a May 2026 trip given you have an August UY.

When dealing with D.V.C. reservations, forget the calendar year. Everything is based on UY, which you might think of as fiscal year. So as explained above, your May 2026 trip is in your August 2025 UY, and you could used banked 2024 points, all your 2025 points, and borrowed 2026 points, but you can’t use 2027 points.
