Need advice on BLT room change

We are booked at BLT (1st visit home) Dec 16th-Dec 19th in a 1 bdrm and are switching to a 2 bdrm lock-off on Dec 19th-Dec 23rd. Has anyone done this and requested to not have to switch rooms (keep the 1bdrm part of the 2 bdrm and hope to have a studio connected if it is available?) Anyone have success with this situation? If so, how did you request it?

I figure it is a long shot but thought I would ask.

I haven't done it, but besides requesting it on your reservation, mentioning it at check in helps according to what people have posted in the past.

I would think requesting at check-in would be too late as they would need to line up the room with a studio that will have someone checking out on the 19th. Do people still fax requests a few days before their reservation for the people that assign rooms?

DVC resorts do not accept faxes.

The only problem might be is if your one bedroom villa isn't a lockoff as well. If it is dedicated, it won't connect to a studio. I don't know if BLT has dedicated one bedrooms, but it might.

BLT has no dedicated studios or 1 bedrooms- they are all part of lock-off units.

I'd add it as a request on my reservation(s) and request it upon check in. It would sure be worth the effort if works.

We have done this very thing at OKW on several occations. We have requested it on both reservations, and also mentioned it at check in. We have always had it honored.

OMG- this gives me so much hope!!! It would be so nice to not have to switch rooms. Would you mind telling me how they handled checking into the studio part? Did they tell you ahead of time so you knew you weren't moving? We obviously don't care what time we have access to the lock-off studio as our additional family won't arrive until later but it would be nice to know whether or not we have to pack up our stuff.

I just spoke to MS and they told me they could not link my reservations and they could not put a request regarding switching from a 1 bdrm to a 2 bdrm lockoff. She indicated that upon check-in I could request it. I kind of politely pushed the issue and asked if there was anywhere on my reservation for the 1 bedroom to put a note that we would be switching on the 19th to a 2 bdrm lock off and she said she could but she still encouraged me to ask at check-in. It would save us so much hassle if they can accomodate this request so hoping for some pixie dust!

I mentioned it when I checked into the first night in the studio portion. The next day I had to go down and check in to the 2 bedroom lock off, and they informed me if I could stay in the same unit....I could, so we just waited until the lock off was ready and moved our stuff in there. We had guests arriving the second day,so that's why we did the booking that way. I ordered a full cleaning for the studio that second day too, and we moved into the master and the guests moved into the studio.
