Need advice @ making reserv. at non-home resort please!

Just got back Friday and I'm already planning the next trip!
Need some advice. We "own" at BWV so I have an 11 month window for reservations. This is my dilemma and my options I've thought of, and this is where I need your help....

Our use year is February at BWV. I have no points left for this year - FYI. Ok, I want to get a 2 Bedroom at OKW for the end of May 2006. Do I:

1. Wait until February until I have my points and hope a 2 BD is available at OKW? If it is not, then at least I have a reservation, but I really want OKW.

2. Do I make a reservation at BWV for the 11 month window and then at 7 months, call and switch to OKW - almost same points?

3. Do I find someone on the boards to make my OKW reservation so I know I have it where I want and then transfer the points into their account February 1st?

Any and all help would be appreciated. We are still in the planning stages for this trip as it is with another family, but I will need to do something soon.

If you are out of points, that does not preclude you from making a reservation for when you will.

On your point 1 - You don’t have to wait until next Feb, to make the May reservations.
On your point 2 – Since the above applies, you don’t have to make the BWV at 11 months.

I would book OKW at 7 months; you should be fine on availability.

To be safe (and with no risk), I'd make a reservation at your home resort at 11 months and then change the reservation to OKW 7 months ahead.

This will guarantee a stay regardless if there should be no availability at OKW. In my experience, at 7 months, there is little probability that the waitlist would not be effective if nothing is immediately available. I have reserved at every DVC resort within 7 months and, on the occasions the waitlist was necessary- it ALWAYS has come thru. Since there is no risk to you, I'd still reserve at BWV at 11 months and go from there.

Since your planned trip is in your 2006 use year, you only need to wait until the 7 month booking window to make your reservation. I doubt you will have problems getting in at that time.
