I know this isn't technically scrapbooking -- but I'm going to be using my scrapping supplies and buying them from Michaels.....

Years ago, we collected the 100 years of Disney characters from McDonald's. They're plastic on little pedestals. Know what I'm talking about?

Guess who has them lined up on our bookshelves? (DH)
Guess who has to dust them while they sit on the bookshelves? (NOT DH!)

So today (I had been thinking about this for awhile) I bought a glass container (vase) at Michael's. It's huge! It's about 2 feet high and 6 or 7 inches across. I plan on using our mickey ears as a lid.:thumbsup2

My plan is to figure a way to place all of these guys into this container. Since I want to be able to see them - yes , each and every one of them -- from the outside. I was thinking of lining the container with that natural colored packing stuff that looks like shredded wheat. Putting that mostly in the middle and then inserting the characters between it and the glass. Each character has a little tag that has their name and the date they "became" to be disney.

But I am SO NOT crafty -- thus the plea and begging for ideas. I have a huge mickey head punch for scrapbooking and I thought I'd punch some of those and insert them as well.

Ideas? please? instead of using the straw for packing, any ideas of what else to use?

Thanks very much from the one who is tired of dusting......

That's a great idea. How about those glass marbles. Or if you want to go cheaper, rice lol. My mom uses this in vases. Make sure you take a picture of the finished product.

How about Disney shaped pasta?

here's the picture:

Clear or lite colored Easter grass. This way you can work your way up from the bottom adding as you go. It should be much easier to work with, and you can see what you are doing.

Yep, I would say something light weight that can be packed down, like the grass or the packing paper.

Very cute idea! I can't wait to see the finished product.

A Spiral Staircase!

A cardboard tube or maybe plastic pipe for the center column, with cardboard stairs glued to the column.

How about styrofoam circles, the diameter of the vase, and thickness = to the height of the characters plus oh - half an inch. Out of each circle drill (Using a hole saw slightly bigger than the bases of the characters) or cut 3 circles equally spaced around the edges. Put in the bottom circle, and put three characters in the holes. Put in the second circle, but with the solid part over the characters from layer one. Put the next three characters in the spaces and add the third circle and so forth.

Not sure how the diameters of the characters relate to the diameter of the vase, you could possibly fit 4 circles or may only fit two. Either way, it will give you the spiral staircase effect without using cardboard "stairs" and the characters will stay right where you put them.

What a really cute idea!! I like the natural material idea because it will give you a very neutral background. There are a lot of choices at a craft store in the floral or wrapping dept. Can't wait to see a picture of the finished product.
