Ok, so here is the situation. My family is planning a trip to F&W from Oct 25th until Nov 1st. We've made reservations at SSR (our home resort), for a two bedroom and two studios. At the 7 month window we'd like to try and switch our ressie to the Boardwalk, and my question is, what is the best way to go about it. I know that you can call day by day and make a reservation, but we don't have enough points in our use year to have both the SSR and Boardwalk ressies simulanteously. We are afraid that if we call the first day and can get the rooms at boardwalk and give up our rooms at SSR, what happens if we can't get the rooms the second day? My father absolutely refuses to switch rooms/resorts in the middle of a vacation. What are your suggestions about how to change ressies to a different resort at the 7 month mark, without risking a split stay?

If you don't have enough points to hold the SSR reservation, the only way to change at 7 months without risking a split stay is to book the change with one call. Assuming you are checking out on 11/1, that means you call on 4/1/2008 and try to book the 2 bedroom and two studios at the BWV (or wherever).

If there isn't availability, you can go on the waitlist. However, you cannot waitlist to get all three units or none, you can only waitlist for each room. So you take the risk of breaking up your party between SSR and BWV. IT's hard to know what the availability will be like and only you know what risks you are willing to take.
