Hi! My family an I are tent camping at the Fort,November 22-27. This is our second time tent camping there. Last time was in May. We are really excited!

I pretty much know what to expect weather wise. I live a couple of hours drive from Orlando. But for anyone who has done tent camping around this time of year,do you bring a space heater? I know it will probably get pretty cool at night.

The other thing I would appreciate advice on is this. My husband has an older F150 that we usually take camping. I don't really get in that truck other than when we camp. It's loud, and I would rather take a car but all of our camping gear would never fit. I was thinking about renting some type of uhaul trailer that would be big enough to fit 3 bikes,a big tent and miscellaneous camping gear.

Sorry for the long story! Any advice on anything Fort Wilderness camping at this time of year would be greatly appreciated. The planning for this is very last minute. We were going to stay at the French Quarter for two nights and then AKL for 3 nights but I've been checking every day and I finally found availability at the Fort for our dates and we love it there so I'm so excited!

we used to tent camp and would use a heater at night. we always placed it on a piece of wood or something stable-away from the tent sides and it was a thermostatically controlled heater. i really feel that is important. it won't cook you out of the tent and you won't keep waking up to turn it on and off.

these are usually cooler to run, too. you know-they don't physically get hot like others. and ALWAYS UNPLUG IT WHEN YOU WAKE UP. just to be safe... :)

Thanks! We will be safe. I'm overly paranoid about things like that and I just wasn't really sure what others do when camping around this time of year. I might just bring a bunch of really heavy sleeping bags. Hopefully, the weather will be pretty nice!

!

We tent camp Thanksgiving week every year at the Fort! Unless its an unusual year, can't imagine you needing the heater. It sometimes gets cool at night but most likely extra blankets would do the trick. Most years we've been it's cool at night and up to 80 during day. Typical crazy Florida weather!

We went last year and it was very cold - bring it or buy it at super Walmart if needed.

We will be camping 11/10-11/18. We have been camping at the Fort for the last 4 Novembers and even when it was cold last year, we did not need a heater. We would rather have it cool and snuggle in our blankets!

At my 11/09/1991 wedding here in Central Florida, the temp dropped to 17 degrees!!!!

Thanks for all the replies! I think we will just bring warm sleeping bags and if it really gets that cold we could always run to Walmart if we really needed a heater. We always forget things and end up having to run to the store. I'm so excited to go back to the Fort! We go to Disney every couple of months or so but Fort Wilderness is definitely my favorite.

1) We don't tent camp often.
2) My idea of "roughing it" is the TV remote batteries die.
3) However, when we did, we took electric blankets.
4) THERE IS NOTHING like cuddling inside a warmed double-size sleeping bag!
