Should I pack a a floatation swim outfit for my son? He is 4 yrs old. Of course I will be in the pool with him but he has that suit which has the floats in the chest or should I just save space in the suitcase? Do they have lifejackets or floats to use or rent?
First time doing Disney with a child!
Thanks for any suggestions or advice,
Dawn

If you go in the Mickey Pool only no worries. It will only go about to his waist anyway. Goofy pool is a little deeper, but pretty crowded so you wouldn't want him in there alone anyway.

Bump-Thank you for the response. Does anyone else have experience in this issue they would like to share?

I take the swim vest for my 4 yr old because he likes to go down the mickey slide. Although the water is not deep so he can stand up in the pool ok, coming off the slide he can get a little panicked if he doesn't immediately find his feet. I agree that the goofy pool is small and crowded, we didn't go in there much. We take one of those little swimways vests that has the two pads front and back connected by an elastic strap. It is enough to hold him up and make him comfortable but not too bulky.

I think it really depends on what else you may be using it for....and how comfortable he feels in the water with out it. Like the previous posters said...the mickey pool is not deep...and the mickey slide...I know our dd6 didn't ever pick up enough speed going down the slide to actually make it to the "pool" at the bottom. The slide levels out towards the bottom....so by the end she'd have to get up...and walk off of it. FYI...the mickey slide does not end up in the mickey pool...it has it's own seprate landing area along side the mickey pool so there are no swimmers or anyone at the bottom to run into.

But back to your question...if your doing beach time at ports or any water excurisions...you may want to bring the floatation swim outfit...we had talked about bringing some floaters for our dd's when we went snorkeling....even though they can both swim...we figured they may get to tired out snorkeling for extended periods of time..and a floater would be handy so they could just float and snorkel around.
It would also probley come in REAL handy at Castaway Cay.

Thank you for your responses I am feeling a little less anxious.

Does anyone know if they rent life vest small enough for a 4 year old on Castaway Cay?
