I would like some advice on getting Bonnet Creek at a reasonable price. Our dates are Oct. 16-26, 2014. The quote from Vacation Strategy was $119/night for a one-bedroom villa (2 adults, 0 children). This is much higher than our last trip in late October 2013, where we only paid $78/night.

Our dates are set. Any tips for getting a better rate? Are there other reputable companies (besides Vacation Strategy) that rent Bonnet Creek units? Vacation Upgrades is even higher ($130/night).

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I just paid $437 for 6 nights starting on January 8. I booked with Don Koehn through Myresortnetwork.com.

I will be harder to get a deal because your trip is so far in the future. There is little motivation for renters to give you a bargain.

Also, the price has been going up as the economy improves.

My best suggestion is to cast a wide net and see what shakes out. Look at the power sellers on ebay. Check out redweek and TUG.

is renting from ebay a legit way to get a room at WBC? I see a lot of people say that...just wondering myself,as I keep reading rave reviews, but I have never seen a 'bargain' there.....it looks nice, but it's never the great deals people talk about, where are these?

I used ebay for a last minute trip in May 600. For the week 2 br We're going again this May and the quote I received from vacation strategy is over 1000.00 for a 2 br. I think I'll take my chances and wait for 60 day mark and find another ebay deal.

We got a great rate going through SkyAuction. Look at both Book it Now and Auctions. We stayed via an auction and had a great experience.

Most of the pricing on Bonnet Creek is based upon the point calendar that owners have to use. The week in October you are looking to go is considered high week. During that week it would cost an owner 126,000 points. If you pushed it back 1 week, you are then in value season which would cost an owner 84,000 points. Most owners pay $4-$5 per point so that is a difference of several hundred dollars. Now owners get different discounts and things like that, but I would say this is probably why the cost is so much more this year. Depending on the calendar, it is possible that the same dates could have fallen into value season at Wyndham last year.

You can score an incredible deal on ebay, but only if you are willing to wait till the last 30 days. But most people cant wait that long. And these deals get snapped up fast.

We have found that 45 to 30 days before departure rates by owners on various sites drop considerably. Remember most owners have mortgages, taxes and fees every month and some rent is better than none.

Owners that have mega points can rent them at 60 days for half price. They can also get a free upgrade so they can rent a 1 bedroom at half price but actually get a 2 BR.

This is why prices drop. At 15 days, they can release the room and it does not cost them anything.

We booked thru VS in November for Feb 27. 4 nights for 2 bedroom and the total price is $568.
We got 2 quotes and VS price matched.
Good luck

In the midst of it and I will say shop.

Also either go for a week or 10 or more days. Seems 8 days throws a wrench into things.

If you can move to September I know prices are better. We just booked 10 days for 700 in a 1 bedroom

N00B here! Well, new to posting, old to lurking. lol

We go to Disney in March. I don't have a place yet, but am doing what the seasoned pros here say to do and wait until the 60-day mark. I'm struggling to wait, though!

I've been tracking the costs on eBay for several months and noticed a huge reduction around 45 days out. But I've also noticed a lot of sellers with less than 10 feedback rating, which makes me nervous.

When you say 8 days, you really mean 7 nights, right? Like, check in on Saturday at 4pm and check out the following Saturday at 10am? Eight days, but only 7 nights, is that right?

I've only rented (2x) from Ken at Vacation Upgrades. I've always paid $120/night for a two bedroom (10 nights and 9 nights). Although I know plenty of other people get WBC for less, I like feeling 100% confident that there's not going to be an issue with my reservation. I also feel like Ken and Denise are nice people and I think they'd do their best to help if something came up last minute. That's just me though. I'm risk-adverse!

The cheaper price isn't worth the stress I'd feel up until my arrival date.

Hey! I just booked WBC today through Vacation Upgrades. Super-nice guy! I would strongly recommend him, even if his rates are a little higher than others (120/night for 1BR presidential during a peak week is not bad IMO). He's very professional, sends confirmation email right away, and has a rental agreement. One third is due when you sign the agreement and the balance is due 30 days before check in.
