We like to hit the Magic Kingdom for a couple hours after we get into town and then go to dinner afterward. Looking for something either in the Kingdom or on the monorail. The available choices are: The Wave, Chef Mickey's, 1900 Park Fare, and Liberty Tree Tavern.

Wave seems like people are happy with the food, but it may be a little boring. Mickey's and Fare seemed to be known for their characters, but not many good things about the food. Liberty Tree gets good food reviews, but seems a little boring. Will be DW and I, and our kids ages 9, 6, 4, and 10mo. Table service/family style might be a little easier for us than buffet., but looking for people's opinions on these restaurants.

LTT and the Wave have the better food, it is true. If you're going straight to MK after travel, I would say stick to the park, go to LTT, then decide if you're ready to fold, or hit one more ride. LTT is served family style for dinner, so it is the happy place between buffet and table service in that sense.

You can make a reservation for one of the places you listed and then try and grab a replacement reservation at the Skipper Canteen at Magic Kingdom when they open up their ADRs (rumor is tomorrow they start taking ADRs). Also if the Skipper Canteen doesn't suit your tastes, keep checking. Other places are bound to open once people start cancelling for Skipper.

I'll agree with auroraborealis and shortnsassy. Why not just stay in the park and avoid any more travelling than you have too. LTT is a safe choice. But it sounds like you have a family that enjoys food that is more than just safe. Skipper Canteen may be something you would enjoy. You can find the menu on other threads on this forum, or on the Disney food blog. Watch for the announcement when they open up ADRs.¡

Good call on Skipper Canteen. I might give that a shot. Liberty Tree just seemed kind of 'meh' to me. Skipper seems to be more interesting.

We're doing 'Ohana later in the week. No openings on that first night we're there. :D

I personally would 100% say Park Fare! It's HANDS DOWN one of my favorite resturaunts on property, characters are always fabulous and the food is some of the best buffet I've ever had! Great options, lots of it, and a great time had by all.

Otherwise I'd do LTT
