I want to warn those of you who might be sensitive right now to just hit the back button. I feel like the world's worst mother and I really could use some advice about what to do.

DS used the restroom a little while ago and he is working on cleaning himself up. Well I guess some of the paper he used was still stuck to him in his underwear and at some point recently that piece fell out of his underwear into our hallway floor. Well DD was playing in the hallway a few minutes ago and I noticed she was putting something in her mouth...well you can guess what she found. :crazy2: I immediately took everything out of her mouth and brushed her teeth and then washed her hands and used anti-bacterial gel. I am so completely grossed out and I can't begin to imagine how bad that could be for her. Should I call the doctor? Do I just have to hope it doesn't make her sick? :crazy2: At this point I can't imagine what they could do?

I just have to say.... :crazy2:

How old is your dd? Do you have Listerine on hand? If so, is she old enough to swish with the Listerine without swallowing any? I'd give that a try. Listerine is supposed to kill germs.

I hope she doesn't get sick.

Yes! The active ingredient in LISTERINE is used in food processing plants for meats which can have Listeria and other harmful bacteria....some potentially lethal! Meats are washed in this solution to kill the bacteria. Use it! ::yes::

I'm not one to call the doctor but in this case I would. Fecal matter can contain bacteria and parasites (sorry if I scare you). I doubt shes the first child to do this and you aren't the worlds worst mother. I don't think you qualify for that until your kids are teenagers.

Ew, I know it's making your stomach turn, but I don't think you need to do anything else. My older son got a hold of some cat poo when he was around this age. I called the doctor who had me call poison control. PC told me as long as it was my cat and she had all her shots, not to worry. My guess is the same thing would apply for your son.

If your son isn't sick, don't sweat it! Kids have been eating P**p for ages and they survive.

My DD is in the habbit now of taking off her diaper after she pooped and plays in it and I even founp it around her mouth which only lead me to believe she put the poop in her mouth, nothing ever happened to her, never got sick or anything.

I don't have any great advice and haven't gone through this myself, but have heard all kinds of stories. I did want to say, don't beat yourself up over this! Your DD will be fine and you will look back on this and laugh. Not tomorrow, but one day. When my nephew was about 1yo he was in his crib and he took off his diaper and smeared poop EVERYWHERE. I'm sure he must have eaten some of it, too. My sister said it was the grossest thing she ever cleaned up. But of course they got through that and he was fine. And your DD will be, too.

You might want to call the dr and get his/her advice just so you will know what to look out for.

I'm guessing your little one will be fine. When DD was in her crib ohhhhhh so many years ago we went in one morning to find her with grinning at us.....

with brown teeth. :rotfl2:

She had a great time playing "paint the walls" and "what does this taste like?" before we got to her that morning.
Gross as all get out but there are worse things believe it or not! :lmao:

.

Ack, but it happens. :crazy2: I think when my brother was little he ate a cockroach and that is super nasty. lol :scared:

I would get her the mild Listerine, too.

I think kids eating things they shouldn't eat is just part of growing up - as gross as we may think it is. Yes, they survive. By all means call her dr., but I think this is all normal.

As always, take her to the Dr if she gets sick. If not, remember to write it down in her baby book to use as ammunition when she starts displaying attitude when she hits puberty. :rotfl:

I don't see what a Dr would do unless she was showing signs of being ill. I would not call the Dr. If she starts running a fever, don't wait. That is when I would get her there ASAP.

:rotfl: So true.

Sorry to the OP, but I had to :lmao: when I read your post because with 4 young kids of my own...I've been there. Most of us mom's have had a baby who had a diaper explosion and ate/played/drew artwork with their poop. :crazy2: It's gross. But I really don't think the Dr. would tell you to do anything about it. I'd guess that your baby swallowing listerine would cause her more harm.

I must have been reading too quickly because the first time through I thought it say DH, not DS. I was picturing a grown man walking around in his underwear with toilet paper hanging out and I had no idea why you would be telling us this!

If you're nervous it certainly can't hurt to call the doctor. I'm sure that he's been asked questions like this many times before!

I'm sure she'll be fine, my kids luckily never did that. They only used to poop right when we'd put them in the tub...YUCK! But, heck if all those people on Fear Factor are still alive after eating 100 year old eggs (who saves that for 100 years?), and horse intestines then I'm sure she'll live :)

I would just watch her for any signs of being sick.

It is for times such as this that we are born with immune systems.

And really, really strong stomach acid.

Becka, I think she'll be fine. Like I said, if she even got anything, the digestive juices in her stomach will kill just about anything. If you are in doubt, however, call your pediatrician. Believe me, they've heard all sorts of stories like this, and will not think you to be a bad mommy.

:rotfl:

A coworkers child took her diaper off in her crib one night and painted herself, the walls, and likely her insides as well.

I am sure tons of kids have done this.

As nasty as it sounds, Im sure she will be fine. If she would begin acting sick, call the doc.

I am sitting here and feeling slightly ill :crazy2: while laughing at the same time! :rotfl2:

I'm also wondering how many people are going to read these posts who do NOT have kids yet and are now thinking to themselves, "No way on God's green earth will that ever be me!!!"

If you ever have kids then guess what, at some point, yes it will. ;) :rotfl:
