Hi everyone,

We will be staying with family in Orlando....they will be dropping us off at the parks each day. Any ideas of good place(s) to get some R&R during the day?

We won't have the luxury of a car to get us back to our lodging place.

Thanks in advance!

Even if you're not staying on-site, go and enjoy some of the resorts for some 'down-time'. We love touring the different gift shops, grabbing a snack or meal, and just taking in the quiet areas of each of the larger resorts. If you're at MK, take the boat or a bus over to the Wilderness Lodge - lounge chairs on the beach overlooking Bay Lake, the lobby has very comfy chairs and quiet setting, or visit the DVC section where they have a quiet room with leather rockers and chess & checkers to play. If you're at AK, visit the AKL - you can use the savannah viewing area near the pool, check out their amazing and large gift shop, grab a snack at Mara, very relaxing there.
If you're at Epcot, take the International Gateway path (beside boat launch past United Kingdom and before bridge to France), and it's a two minute walk to the gorgeous Beach Club, or walk all the way around the water and visit the Boardwalk and all the shops and eateries there. If you're at HS, it's a quick bus ride to Old Key West, which is very relaxing. You can also take a boat from HS to the Boardwalk and Beach Club as well.
Enjoy your trip!

Sometimes when we plan to be at Magic Kingdom all day and we are not staying on-site, we take a sheet, thin blanket or some kind of ground cover with us, and when we are ready for a break, we head over to Tom Sawyer Island and find a quiet grassy spot to stretch out. When my daughter was small, she would take a nap and I would rest and then we'd head back out. I also agree with previous poster about going to one of the nearby resorts and finding some comfy chairs in the lobby to take a breather (and maybe a quick siesta).

If you are at MK, take the boat over to the GF or WL. The couches in lobby are so comfy! GF also has a piano player. DH likes to hop over during our October trip, get a drink, hang out at the pool bar for a bit and catch up on the scores of the Penn State or Giants game. AKL has a great viewing area with rocking chairs overlooking the savana. If you are in EPCOT, there is a little area over at China with trees and the pond.

I agree with everyone about going to resorts to relax. When at the MK its easy to get to a lot of resorts. Take Monorail to either the Contempoary, GF, or Poly. What I would suggest is take a boat to FW and relax there. Its very quite there and there are tons of places you can just sit and relax. If you do decide to do this then make sure you have a map of FW because it can be large and intimidating if you've never been there before. I wouldn't suggest the Contempoary because it can be very loud and busy. The Grand Flordian and Poly are good because they have really nice white sand beaches (so does FW). You can also take a boat to the WL, thats another place that is nice and quite. As for actually places in MK, there are't many because the park is busy 90% of the time. A good place to rest is either in a show or on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. You get a nice, relaxing tour of Tomorrowland and you can ride multiple times.

At EPCOT you can easily find benches throughout World Showcase that provide a nice place to sit. On my last vacation werested on the benches overlooking the water in Italy, it was a really nice break. ITs also very easy to get to the Beachclub, Boardwalk, Swan, Yacht Club, and Dolphin. The Beachclub and Yacht Club have really nice beaches you can relax on.

Its easy to get to the same hotels as EPCOT from DHS. Its hard to get to too many hotels from AK because you have to take buses to all of then from AK. I haven't visited DHS or AK in a few years so I'm not sure where to rest in the parks.

Also, taking buses from the resorts could get very stressful so if I was you I would try to avoid taking the buses to a resort.

If you take the monorail to the Poly you could sit on the "beach" and relax on the chairs, swings and hammocks they have. The lobby has 2 levels and has comfy chairs where you can hangout. You could get a drink and hangout by the pool.

At the AK, there is a lower terrace at back of the Flame Tree Restaurant - it over looks the river and very shading. We enjoyed a quite time there back in September. I also like to that the Jungle trek and sit along the way and just watch the animal.

Another suggestion for MK is the train. (That loops around the park) DH, DS & DD all slept on it. We went around and around for over an hour. There were other families napping too and the conductors even whispered their instructions, which I though was neat.
