Need a stateroom opinion!

I am in the process of booking my cruise (I won from a radio station). The packet gives me a Cat 11 inside stateroom.

Is it worth the out of pocket expense ($800 quoted) to upgrade to a cat 8/9 porthole room?????

Just my opinion but I would just go to a cat. 10 to get the split bath. If this is your first cruise with DCL you will not be in the room very much - so much to do and the ship is beautiful. The split bath is great if you are traveling with 2 or more !! Try for the Secret porthole rooms on Deck 5. They are great! Obstructed view porthole and split bath for the price of a cat. 10! Have a magical trip!!!

You're FINALLY getting to plan that cruise you won! When are you going? As far as the Category 8/9 cabins go, the main difference in the two is their location on the ship. Cat 9s are on deck 1 and 2 and Cat 8s are on deck 5,6, and 7. Cat 8s cost just a little more than Cat 9 because of their higher deck location. That $800 price seems kind of high to upgrade from Cat 11 to Cat 9. I would also try for a Cat 10 Secret Porthole Room if one's available. We were in our room quite a bit (naps for our 3 yr. old, resting before dinner, etc.) so having a porthole to look out of was nice.
