I have a "Little Mermaid" VHS I want to sell and I don't know what to start the price at. It is the original cover with the dirty thing in the castle. Do you think it would sell well??

Start it at .99 and see if it sells. Put enough shipping to cover your costs.

Maybe before you auction, check to see how many others are selling and for what cost.

Really start it that low? I know it's a VHS but it caused an entire redo of the cover because of that drawing.

I agree with a low starting price it will give you more views which hopefully will turn into bids. Those with high starting bids usually never get much action.

A quick look at ebay shows people are interested in the original cover, one auction had a starting bid of $9.99 and is currently at $18.00.

Good luck on your auction!

You're listing fees are partly based on starting bid. You will get higher than .99, but why start higher if it's going to cost more. I checked completed items, and they sold anywhere from$5-40, no idea why the difference for the same thing, with the average around $10. I would put shipping at $4, which covers media mail shipping and ebay fees. You could always put a buy it now for the price you want too. HTH's

Figure the lowest amount you are willing to accept. Either set that as the minimum bid with no reserve or set that as a reserve and start it at 99¢. The eBay listing fee will be based on the higher of your starting price or reserve price.

IMO, never start an auction lower then the lowest amount you are willing to get for the item. If it sells for that you are obligated to sell it for that, even if you expceted to get more.

I agree, if you start it that low it may sell for that. I always start my auctions at the lowest I could go on them to make a profit.

You got my attention what is the dirty thing in the castle? :confused3 I have no idea what you are talking about? I have a Little Mermaid VHS. I have never heard about any dirty thing? Is the tape rare? Selling for 18.00 that seems pretty good for a VHS tape. Is it because of this what ever? I am now so curiouse about what every body knows that I don't. I fel out of the loop. I've got to know its killing me.

Okay so how do I describe it in the listing. I can't mention a Ding Dong or any other word to describe it without my auction getting pullled.

There is a depiction of a "ding-dong" in the sandcastle on the cover of the original VHS.

Check out this photo to see.

OMG I did not understand this (quote) until I looked over and over tower per tower on my VHS picture, and then I saw it! LOL! Wow, what a big mistake for the "big and famous" Disney company. They are a company made expecially to attract the children audience, and some adults, too! I can not beleive it I have a "ding-dong" in my house and I never knew it!Now I will have to put away ths one in a more private place.

Yeah, but I made the mistake of telling my relatives about the disney boards and If they are reading this one right now and they come to visit me in the future and they see my movie collection on my living room expecially this one I will sure turn red when they make fun of me for having a ding dong in my house. Strange but at college 2 weeks ago, one of my computer teacher was talking about some kid who took the Disney mermaid vhs swimming in the bathtub. The video got meesed up but the mom save the cover because it was a "collectible" (Worth a lot of money.) He continue talking just to one student the rest of the students about 28 did not knew what they were talking about. The teacher has the whole complete disney movie collection, so he knows about these movies. Now I may go back to him and say "Ooh, I understand now."

Thanks for helping me understand about this "special" Disney movie! Now to go to my sisters house and make fun of their movies!LOL

Thanks for filling me in. I can not wait to tell my girl friends it will be the talk of the next get together. So so funny. Never would have suspected from Disney. Any other fun facts out there?

Just list it as having the original artwork that was recalled by Disney.
