at this stage we have signed all the paper work and have 3 weeks to pay the balance

anyone know is it to late to give them a referral from someone here

thanks for any info

I sent you a PM

We are getting in on Annual Passholder DVC discount. Anyone out there know if we could also get a discount by being referred? Thank you!

Janie

MouseLovers2...

I dont understand your question????? :confused3
If you already are getting a DVC AP, you are a member, and are currently getting a $100. discount on your AP ;).....right??

I just sent you a PM about the referral program. To get the current promo price of $ 86.00 per point you need a member referral. Hope this works out for you.

Also tell your son thank you for serving our country as a Marine. Hopefully he is in a safe environment.

jns--if you didn't get the answer you're looking for, I'm pretty sure you have 10 days to cancel your contract. I'd call, ask them if you're eligible for the Friends and Family discount (just tell them you didn't know about it when you signed the papers, but now you DO know someone who told you about it, and you WANT IT!!!) Disney is fair--they won't tap dance around it. You have to be within 10 days of signing, I believe, to cancel (that's what I was told last week by my guide, when I asked questions while doing an add-on).

Thanks senecabeach--yes, it's the military in me! Perhaps it's honesty to a fault. :goodvibes I haven't done any referrals yet that earned any Disney rewards of any kind, so if they're doing the rewards on these referrals, then I'm afraid I'm at the bottom. But hey--anything is better than nothing! :cool1:

We bought while on a Disney Cruise three years ago--when we bought, we weren't allowed to collect any "prizes" like that for referrals--I was still on active duty in Oklahoma (I retired summer 2005--HOORAY!) and at the time, apparently, OK was one of those states that didn't allow you accept stuff like that... they're not on the list now.

I'm happy to share. It costs me nothing--we can both get a little extra spending money!

kimszath....

Thanks, now its clearer!! Congratulations on your "retirement" and..
:welcome: "Welcome Home" !! :welcome:

Yes... the referral incentive is a nice perk for those members that can do it...especially when you apply it to your maintenance fee for the year. ;) Good Luck!! :goodvibes

Does anyone know how long the current promotion runs? We're considering joining but need to do some more research.

Thanks!

DVC still isn't saying.

I haven't heard any reports of people being told "you better act quickly", which is often the case when these things are winding down. If I had to guess, I'd say at least through the end of the year. But don't hold me to that. ;)

I talked with my guide last week about how long the promotion is and he said they haven't been given a deadline yet, but he thinks the beginning of the year. He also said that if somebody was interested but things were tight with the holidays (and people may not want to plunk down a big chunk of change) then if you pay the $500 deposit they could stretch things out a couple months.
If anyone is interesting in finding out more or buying in, PM me and I'll give you my guides name and number.

No one really knows when the SSR incentive will end..BUT..Im hearing that the guides are in a tizzy because of NO AKV information from thier upper mgmt and they can't help "newbies" make a good financial decision. Supposedly to happen by EOY.

Im hearing SSR incentive will run into 07 for a while. When it does end, you certainly will have enough time to make a decision before the deadline.

My guide thinks that when AKV is officially "priced" that both the SSR incentive and AKLV will run concurrently for a while into 07. ;)

I can not confirm the january 20th. However, a senior DVC guide who does not do walk in's told us on Wednesday when we bought that the promotion was coming to an end but probably not before the end of the year.

He did say the October Use year for 2006 was in seriously low supply (9000 points when we bought) at this point and December would be the only 2006 option left real soon.

I would also like to say Doug Rapp is awesome as a DVC guide. He does not do walk in's and is strictly refferal based. I can't say enough good things about him or his service.

That's interesting...last month, we were told Dec UY for 2006 was all that was left and they were expecting to sell that out in a matter of days, switching to a Feb 2007 UY. :confused3 I would have liked an Oct. UY and the guide knew my concerns...

Hi! I understand that if you are referred by a friend you get a discount at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort. Is that true and what is the discount? Also what is the benefit for the friend who gives the referral?

Should I buy from Disney directly or buy used & WHY? :confused3

Advice Needed and Friend Referral Needed with permission!

Many Thanks,
Nick :wave2:

Hi Nick,

Your thread will probably get moved to the Operations forum, FYI. Here is a recent thread that might answer some of your questions.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1290851

SSR price with discount is $86/pt, plus closing costs of about $125 for 150 pts. If you buy through Disney, you can use a credit card, Disney financing, etc., whereas if you buy resale, you probably can't. Disney will get you into the reservation system quickly, and resales have to pass ROFR first, close, get recorded, and then get entered into the system.

Buying resale, you can often get banked points. You can also get a lower price on sold out resorts in some cases. Closing costs will be higher for resales, unless you can negotiate with the seller. Many times you can save money, sometimes it's a break-even.

Disney can sell you sold out resorts if there is inventory. Price is currently $95/pt.

Good luck with your research and decision!

I believe closing costs (through Disney) are approx $200 if financing, and that OKW resales are $92 and HHI and VB are $87 per point.
