Need a recommendation for a good diaper rash ointment

DS's Ped. always recommended Bag Balm. Worked great for DS and all my nieces and nephews.

I've always used Mary Kay's extra emollient night creme with my kids. Clears the diaper rash up in a matter of hours...even the really nasty ones.

Aqua4 mixed with malox. I understand it's marketed that way now. 10 years ago, we were mixing it in a bowl. Keep the diaper off as much as possible. Clean and dry. Cool compress with swelling. Good luck.

DS13 got diaper rash easily. What worked the best for him was plain old Vaseline and Corn Starch. I would smear on the Vaseline and then sprinkle with the corn starch (I bought one of those really big salt shaker things).

This is what I did as well. Worked great! My kids never had a rash.

I am a huge fan of Boudreaux's Butt Paste. I have not found anything else that works as well as it does. It's really thick and just coats the little tushy. DS used to get bad rashes a lot, and it would always clear them up like magic in no time at all.

Laughs! Butt Paste is good stuff. I actually used it when my DS8 got rashed at the beach between his legs from his trunks rubbing. Worked great. Our first line of defense for our DS1 is a sprinkle of cornstarch powder by J&J. If he shows signs of irritation we go to a desitin like cream. Wlamart has their own brand of this-great price/big tube-works great! Rarely do we have to bring out the big guns=butt paste. But the occassional bout of diarehhea from teething does strike! Also a nice soak in an aveeno bath can be very soothing to little bums! And its not harmful or toxic if accidentially swallowed by big splashers!

for a mild rash I like Gerber Diaper Rash Ointment, it smells really good. For a bad rash I use Boudreaux's Butt Patse or Triple Paste.

Triple Paste...definitely one of the better pieces of advice I got from one of my sisters. That stuff was awesome, and it didn't stink like some of the other creams did.

Creams for severe diaper rash:

Triple Paste. This "super cream" is great for severe rashes. It is a combination of petrolatum, zinc oxide, lanolin, beeswax, and cornstarch. This cream may be difficult to find, but most pharmacies can order it from Summers Laboratories (1-800- 533-SKIN).
