I am in need of a new clothes dryer. Mine is leaving black lines on all my clothes.
Are there any Black Friday deals on appliances? Sears or Lowes? Has anyone seen anything or can anyone recommend a dryer for me? No front load please. :goodvibes

ETA: I know dryers are front load, I didn't have my coffee before posting! :) I am looking for a gas dryer. All the BF ads show electric dryers, will they have gas ones on sale too just not advertised since they are more expensive?

Okay, I guess I've been living under a rock, but all the dryers I've seen are front load! Where do you find a top load dryer?

And FWIW, when I found my dryer leaving any kind of marks on clothing, it was due to something intruduced via kids pockets (or DH! :scared1:). I've always found that cleaning the inside of the drum fixed the issue. If it is still working fine otherwise, I'd be doing some serious troubleshooting before dropping money on a new dryer...which explains why I'm on the budget board. :rotfl:

There are plenty of specials on dryers right now at most of the stores, however, I have never heard of a top load dryer.

haha, Oops-you are right! I wasn't thinking!

The black marks have been around for about 1 year now. Almost like burn marks but before the actual material gets burned (a few items have been burned). I've been living with this for awhile so I am finally giving in to buying a new one. I can't complain too much-this one came with the house and we moved in almost 7 years ago.

I love Black Friday for appliances.

Last year, I got a french-door, drawer on bottom, with water dispenser refridgerator from HHGregg for $1,000. I was too lazy to get up at 5am, but at 5pm, when I did finally get there, they still had a bunch left.

Two years ago, the weekend BEFORE Black Friday, Best Buy had an LG electronic dryer (electric, sorry) on sale for less than most of the non-electronic ones. I LOVE that dryer. Unfortunately, I don't know about gas.

Our lowes usually has holiday sales on Washers and Dryers and we have gas appliances too so I usually watch for those. They frequently have them on sale for a additional cost. The ads usually say something about that in the small print. I am glad you cleared up the top loading dryer thing as it had me perplexed, not enough coffee yet for me either! :) I am also looking for a new dryer as it is leaving weird black spots. I think I narrowed it down to the actual vent holes rusting?

Two things, burn marks on clothes coming out of a dryer would have me shutting that puppy down for good before something actually DID catch on fire! Two, have you taken a peek at whether your local utility does anything for buying newer, more efficient appliances? Just a thought. :confused3 I'd be search scratch and dent and those BF type ads. We purchased a Kenmore earlier this year that was clearanced and we really like it.

I'm not really sure it's burns-it's almost like something is getting caught or something-straight, short black lines that look like marker lines. Sometimes there is a small hole. It's hard to explain-and I never smell anything like burning. If I try hard I can usually get the marks out with soap (if it's a good piece of clothing) so probably it's not burns.

Anyway-there are no energy savings on dryers that I've ever seen-they are energy busters no matter how you make them.

I know what you are talking about with the lines left on clothes!! I had the same issue. My dh thought it was the washer, but I knew it was the dryer. About 3 years ago someone on the DIS posted about a deal for a dryer black Friday weekend. It was a dryer for $191 Very nice. I snagged one.
Anyway we hooked it up and viola! No more marks.
