We currently have a 9 yr old Whirlpool double oven that is broken. We have spent over $500.00 trying to repair and don't want to put anymore money in to it.

Looked at new ones this weekend. Was set on a Kitchen aid model, priced around $2,300. Well, today i checked online and read a bunch of reviews. MOst of them were bad. Saying took too long to heat up, problems with the electrical board going out and when using the self clean feature it caused the over to go out.

Well, wondering if anyone hear has any opinions?

My DSis had a brand new KitchenAid 5 years back and did not like it.
She's not rough on her things & only she & her adult daughter used the thing.

She did like the layout & size of the oven.

As for the cleaning bit: IMHO, like the 'continuous cleaning' sort rather than the catalytic cleaning.

Hope this is some help

I had a jennair double oven and LOVED it. I bought it for a fraction of the original price (around $3k) from a scratch and dent appliance place. I purchased a 5 yr warranty and never had an issue. I used it for 8 yrs before we sold the house and never had an issue. My other appliances in the home were kitchen aid. I would recommend purchasing a warranty.

I just ordered the gas version of that range and am hoping it works out well. I did a reasonable amount of research and didn't think the reviews were that bad. I got mine on veterans day for $1700 from Sears by the way.

We have Kenmore double ovens. Purchased in 2005. I have never ahd a problem with them, I like them alot. When we purchased them they were rated very high in Consumer Reports.

When we remodeled the kitchen several years ago, I purchased GE appliances--One of my ovens is a convection and the other is standard. No problems with any of the appliances.

I have a kitchenaid single oven and I agree that it is slow to pre-heat. However, I have been happy overall with it. The self cleaning cycle works amazingly well (I never had much luck with the continuous clean on my last oven). The oven looks really nice since it matches my dishwasher in style and the electronic controls are easy to use. The only other warning I would have is that the broiler is too powerful. I have to place stuff on the bottom rack or get an instant burn of whatever I'm broiling. I've had mine about 4 years and also got it scratch and dent (the dent was on the side of the oven and since it is built in, you would never see it). I paid about $700.

We have a kenmore double oven both with convection and it is fantastic, never have had any problems. We got it on craigs list for half price, it was never used and only had a small scratch on the handle, I think it was from a place where everything had a scratch or dent.

I am in need of a new oven and did some research, as well as talk to a friend who repairs appliances. Unfortunately, he said Kitchen Aid had the highest repairs and repair costs for ovens and dishwashers. He recommended the GE profile and so did the appliance lady.

I am getting a GE profile convection oven on the bottom and a GE Advantium speedcook/microwave combo on the top since I don't have room for a seperate microwave. This gives me the chance to use the Advantium to cook things like rolls, etc while the main course is cooking in the main oven.

Just wanted to make sure you know that Whirlpool, Kitchenaide and Maytag are all made by Whirlpool. Not sure about Kenmore but the used to be by Whirlpool also. I know they no longer make Kenmore washers and dryers.

We have GE Profile double ovens ~ convection/regular on top and regular on the bottom. We love them! No problems since they were installed in 2007 :)
