UPDATE - My heart is so touched by the outpouring of love here. Thank you everyone.
There was a little bit of hopeful news today. At least today we've seen no further decrease in her condition as we'd previously had. The neurologist said the strength in her legs is no worse (but she's still too weak to support her own weight), but her left arm is slightly better. Its a small tidbit but we are hanging on it.
Also they have run a ton of tests, many of which will be back today or tomorrow. They are trying to isolate what specific virus or bacterial infection caused this so they can better treat it. They got back one semi-positive result on some bacterial infection today. It wasn't quite positve (7.4 is pos. and hers was 7.0). Anyway this is a bacteria that normally causes colds & sore throats but with severe complications can cause central nervous system problems. We are hoping this really is the cause because survivorability is high with that one, although recovery is slow, like 6-8 weeks.
An experimental drug has been FedEx'd from back east somewhere and depending on a lab test that will be back tonight they may or may not start that.
Anyway, I've got to get back to her. DH is with her now. We are all tired because she didn't sleep well last night and just worn out in general from the emotional roller coaster and stress. I'll keep in touch and thanks again for the love and support I feel from my DIS "family".
