Need a kid friendly dinner option in DTD or a resort

We have friends from FL meeting us for dinner tomorrow night but they don't have park passes. They'd like to go to DTD so that would be best but a resort would be do-able too.

I called for T-Rex but its walk in only and I'm afraid it will be crazy busy tomorrow night (Sat.) and we don't want to wait hours with 3 kids (ages 9,5,2).

DH got a reservation for Fultons but I'm afraid that is too fancy for kids. Is it? Any other suggestions?

Rain Forest in DTD. If you call them direct, they have something similar to ADRs. At your appointed time you will be lead to one of the two lines to wait for a table. It's usually a short wait. House of Blues is another option but not as good for kids as RFC.

A lot of the resort restaurants could be booked on Saturday. A lot of kids return to school on Monday. You could try Kona and Ohana. Boma is great. Disney doesn't consider it a buffet but there is a wide variety of food. The good thing with Boma it has a variety of food that will please most adults but also has normal kids food with the limited downtime offered by buffets. The problem with it it its popularity.

Boatwrights is another option. You can get the diversions of DTD and catch the boat to POR for dinner. The boat departs (at least it used to) by Cap'n Jacks and RFC. Boatwrights is the only TS for both Port Orleans resorts and can be booked.

I am not sure how accurate this might be but with T-Rex being so popular right now you might have a better chance of getting a reservation at the Rainforest or at least a good wait time if you need to go as a walk-in, since a lot more guests want to eat at the T-Rex.

Also if you want a very good counter service location in terms of food and cost, I would recommend Earl of Sandwich which is also located at Downtown Disney Marketplace.

Chef Mickey's (Contemporary), Ohana's (Polynesian), Boma (AKL) and 1900 Park Fare (Grand) all come to mind if you're willing to hit different resorts. Maybe even Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge?

WPE has a good menu for adults and kids. The food is great!

You could call Disney dining to see if they had any last minute openings, anything is possible, but not likely. Since this is tomorrow night I would suggest Earl of Sandwich or Wolfgang Puck Express as some other poster have suggested. Both are very good!

Any place on a Saturday will probably be quite crowded. I would also try to eat a little earlier than the prime time dinner hours to avoid the masses as much as possible.

You'll see kids that age at EVERY WDW restaurant (including Fultons) except V&A--all WDW restaurants are "kid friendly". Now some appeal to kids more than others, but I can't be any help there.
