We are going to visit my elderly Aunt and would like to bring her this cake. I've tasted it before, and think she would really enjoy it. Does anyone have a recipe. I've only heard of it refered to as Jewish Apple, we are not Jewish and I'm not sure if that is a well known name for this cake or not.

The first time I had this cake it became my new favorite! ;) Really good cake, isn't it? I hope your Aunt enjoys it! :teeth:

Jewish Apple Cake

3 - 5 apples, sliced
5 Tbl sugar
2 Tbl cinnamon
3 c flour
2 c sugar
1 c oil
4 eggs
1/3 c orange juice
2½ tsp vanilla
3 tsp baking powder

Peel & slice apples. Mix 5 tablespoons sugar & cinnamon; set aside. Beat remaining ingredients until smooth. Pour half batter in greased tube pan. Arrange half apples on top & sprinkle with half cinnamon mixture. Pour rest of batter into pan, add apples & top with remaining cinnamon mixture. Bake at 350 about 1½ hours.

Thank you! That is the cake I'm looking for. It sounds yummy. Do you sprinkle the top with sugar. I seem to remember the top crust being a little sweet.

It calls to have some of the cinnamon/sugar mixture put on the last apples. Som of those apples get covered with the cake as it rises, but mostly they're exposed with that sugar. You could just add extra, but I think it's sweet enough the way it is. ;)
