This may seem like an absolutely absurd question, but should I pack sweatshirts/jackets for our trip the end of August? I am thinking about after dark in the parks while watching the fireworks/parades. Here in WI it is hot and humid in the summer, but can get chilly in the late evening.

Hiya,

We go to Florida in August every year and its absolutely boiling ALL the time, even when it rains :rotfl2:
We stayed on Disney property last year and for the first time were able to make use of Extra Magic Hour. I took a jacket for the first night time just incase and what a big mistake. It was still boiling late at night time.

From my experience, the only time I ever wished I had a jacket with me was in some of the restaurants as the air con is MEGA powerful :rotfl:

So I'd say no, u dont really need a jacket at all in August unless you want one for meal times.......but then you have to carry it around all night

Hope that helps!

I sometimes carry a shortsleeve tshirt w/me (AC, nights, etc) Otherwise its tank tops!

You definitely do not need a jacket, sweater or long pants. But bring lots of extra shirts and shorts because after sweating in them all morning you will want to change into a fresh outfit to go out in the evening.

WEll I'm sure it was just a fluke, but the last time we went at the beginning of June 2004, we had 95 degree days every day. HOWEVER, once the rain came thru in the late afternoon, instead of heating back up again like normal, it would actually stay cool...We ended up buying sweatshirts and didn't swim in the evenings at all because we were too cold.

Honestly, I wouldn't pack them for August, but just be aware that there has been some goofy weather all over the last couple of years so anything can happen!!

Glad you asked this question because we too are going from the 17th-25th and this is our 1st time flying in with a family of 5,I was wondering should I bring sweatshirts and jeans but now I know not to bother....usually we drive down from NJ and so packing is not a problem...this flight out to be intresting,my 3 children never flew....

We brought light sweat jackets/sweat shirts into the restaurants at dinner because sometimes it was absolutely frigid. During the day, we left them in the room b/c being freezing during lunch was actually a relief...it's hotter that heck in August. We rented a double stroller in the parks and often just left them in or on the stroller and no one ever touched them.

we always go in august too and we have never wore sweaters etc.. at night, don't need em, it's HOT HOT HOT

we live in t-shirts and tank tops

Thanks everyone! That is what I thought, but with my over-obsessing packing I wanted to be sure ;) .

In Florida, I have never used a long sleeve shirt until, the earliest, early to mid November.

If you have room, you could always pack 1 light long sleeve for everyone, but I doubt you will need it.

If you do need one while there, what a great souvie, a WDW shirt. :goodvibes

We didn't take jackets/sweatshrits in May...all of the days were well into the 80's (so we didn't need them) EXCEPT the one day that it did rain...it was one of those all day sprinkles with a couple heavier showers, and it was cold by the end of the day. I just bought a long sleeve shirt and was fine. So, odds are that you won't need something like that but if you hit a day like we had, you will wish that you had it.

I'm not planning on packing anything long sleeved for our trip, but I will probably buy a long sleeved shirt on our first day -- I'm a huge wimp when temperatures drop or restaurants have the AC up high. I just sit there and shiver like a chihuahua. :rotfl:

you don't need jackets or sweatshirts. but in the far off chance you need one, I'm sure you could probably buy one there, but I'm not sure. :joker:

I know that even though I'm going in sept that if I don't pack a light jacket it will turn cold and I'll be wanting one. So I found a pretty light weight terry cloth hoodie on sale and I am packing it.

uh no I have packed a warm out fit for the last 3 years and never came any time close!!! :sunny:

The only time I've ever wished I had packed sweatshirts in August was when DS came down with a bug (from the pool?) and the combo of rain & AC made him c-c-c-c-cold

is it the same as August? we will be traveling with DD7 and DS4, they don't mind being around without jackets in fresh/cool days. I remember going in late april and at night it was kind of cold, the air at least was! So even though the days are hot, after rain, will it not be cool? I'm worried about the wind...
