I should have called this thread i HATE my crop a dile!!!!!!

Another thread was talking about how much they loved their's, and mine's been sitting on a shelf for about a year now. So i jumped right in with both feet and presto......ruined it.......YUP! I can't believe it. I am so beside myself right now that i need a hug! I just want to sit and cry. DH- he don't get it. DS- he don't get it. I hate feeling stupid, dumb, idiot....i can just go on and on right now.
i guess i can't just read instructions, i need to be visually taught something. i have had my cricut for 1/2 year now and still not out of the box. i'm afraid i'll screw that up too! i'm so grouchy right now, i could just pack up all my scrappin' stuff and throw it in the trash......

sorry for the rant. just needed to vent.
i should have stayed with the today. now that i know how to do!

I know how you feel!! I have only ever taken out my Crop a Dile for punching holes! I took mine out today to do an eyelet and the directions are USELESS. I kinda fuddled my way through getting them to work. It worked best for me when I put a hole for the eyelet first- it still wasn't pretty. Maybe with practice???? I felt so idiotic. Trust me, you CAN work the Cricut- it is pretty darn easy. Especially compared to the Crop a Dile.

well i put the eyelet in backwards (i guess) and pushed the stick part right in. kinda hard to explain. uuuuggghhhh. you're right aroyer, those stupid directions are useless! here i was thinking i was going to scrap today and now i'm done! you know i read somewhere too, that be careful when you set it because if done backwards it will ruin the dile! yup, that's what happened. i'm crop-a-dile defunct!

it's on the side that say "C". there should be a pin there and i pushed the pin right thru. there is a pin on the "A" side, but that's too big for some eyelets and snaps. if ya know what i mean.

Okay, so it's the pin that woulc go on the inside of a 3/16 eyelet (or snap)

The smaller one is for the 1/8 size

actually it's the smaller of the 2 that the pin is pushed in on.
i think it's the one for the 1/8?!?!

it's not even stuck, it's pushed right thru! i wish i could get it un-stuck, but i messed it up so bad that the pin is gone. i showed it to dh who can fix just about anything, really, he's like mcgeiver. give him a pack of gum, stick and a piece of string and he'll build you a plane and he said throw it away! the pin is disintegrated!

I'd contact the company... I can't imagine that is normal, even if you had the eyelet backwards

That happened to mine the other weekend. It has a spring in it. I took a big paperclip and unbent it. Then I stuc it in the other and coached it back through the hole by springing on it - if that's a good description.

I agree with Susie, after looking at mine I think it may just be stuck in the box. If you can't get it out I would take it to the store and exchange it. Even if you don't have the receipt, I would tell them it was a gift and when you used it, the pin disappeared inside the box. It then spring could be defective.

OMG! Susie Stone you're the bomb! I gave it back to mcgeiver (dh) and said susiestone says she coached hers back out the hole!!!! so here you go, please, please fix this for me! And sure enough, presto, change-o, all fixed!!!!! can you believe it. ok that's the good part of the story. before i read this, i asked him to take me to ac moore to get a new one and we DID!!!!!! so now i have 2!!!!!!!! really. now i guess i'll have to go back to ac moore and return the new one. but the directions on the back of the new one are so much better. i may copy those directions for future reference!

thank you so much everyone for getting me thru this crisis in my life. you guys were so good to me today, when i was so down. nothing like a bunch of friends all around the world.

I am so glad that it worked for you. Mine messed up on the Mickey head eyelets until I figured out what size backing it needed.

yup i feel alot better! gotta love that dh of mine. ready, willing and able to fix just about anything.
he went out earlier when i was in my "funk" and came home with baklava for me!

I'm so glad you got it worked out!! I've been somewhat hesitant to use mine because at CKC last year in one class they told us they'd ruined over half of the ones they'd brought because people were doing it backwards! So every time I want to use it I haul out the directions (I cut them off the package & store them in my rolly tote ) and re-check them! What a pain!! And it never seems right either! Yeah - turn it to 1 & C (or whatever it is)...but not so that the C is actually facing you...in where it's hidden.

If you copy the new directions before returning the new one would you post them here? It might help the rest of us.

So glad you are better and that you now have a working Crop a Dile. I too would like to see the new directions! Now how bout that Cricut??!!??
