can anyone recommend a clarifying shampoo?

I use Pantene and the lady that cuts my hair said it leaves a film and I need to use a clarifying shampoo to strip away the build up -- then I can use Pantene again if I use a clarifying shampoo now and then.

Great Clips or is it Cuts has a clarifing shampoo in their store brand.

I've used Suave Daily Clarifying and it does the job. I wouldn't use it more than once or twice a month though because it's very drying and it will strip your color (if you color.)

I use suave clarifying also. Although a frriend swears by dawn dishwashing soap!:rotfl2:

I've used Sauve, but it does dry your hair and it does strip the color if you have color added.

I am a hairdresser. I work at a Great Clips. Our store does have a shampoo to clarify your hair and get rid of build up that runs around 9 dollars or so. It is by our Great Clips brand, Solutions. It is grapefruit and mint scented. Smells great!

However other brands, suave and such will work as well. However DO NOT use dawn dish soap.

However if I was your I would look into using a new shampoo. Pantene is very harmful for your hair, and recently has even been linked to balding/thinning hair. I go to alot of product knowledge classes and have learned all about it. Pantene has something in it which is basically parafins, or WAX for lack of a better term. The same stuff that they put into floor wax! The wax coats your hair to give it the appearance of being smooth and shiny. However over time this wax build up is very harmful. It can break your hair. Not good.

Hope I helped.

Another fan of Suave clarifying here. I using it about once every 2 weeks to get rid of build up and it works. It is also awesome for cleaning the shower doors and shower walls...gets rid of soap scum build up like nothing else, and it smells good too.

I use baking soda to get rid of the build up.

:thumbsup2 I worked in a high end salon when DH & I first got married. The owner would always gripe at one of the stylists because she told EVERYONE that baking soda did the same thing as all clarifying shampoos. The owner never denied that the soda worked, but said it took away from her retail sales. ::yes::

I've never seen Suave clarifying shampoo in the store. Where are you finding it? What bottle is it in?
I'm in the pool 4 days a week and this would be so helpful!

Any tips on a leave in? At Hair Cuttery they use "It's a 10" but that costs like $30!!

Thanks for the info!

Just mix a little baking soda with your regular shampoo. No need for a special shampoo.

Neutragena CLEAN is great and it's mild enough to use without stripping color or making hair dry. Not as cheap as Suave but also not as good.

Wow, I have been using Pantene for years and I have no problems with it, in fact it one of the few shampoos that make my hair look decent. What is a good shampoo to use for fine hair? I c=am currently using Nexus Diamatress.
