Need 84-99 points for spring 2003 stay...

We'd like to stay at BCV for either 4 or 5 nights the last week of April or the first week of May. I checked the point calculator and it looks like that would run us somewhere from 84 to 99 points. I am on a tight budget for this trip (dh and I just returned this week from WDW and want to take the kids back in 2003!), so the most I can pay per point is $7.50. If anyone has a lot of points available and could unload 84-99 for this price, I'd really appreciate it!

Nobody has any points they wouldn't mind selling for around $7.50 pp??? I've pretty much decided on my dates. I'd like to stay in a studio at BCV for the nights of 5/3, 5/4, 5/5 and 5/6 (for which I think I'd need 68 points). I am also considering extending my stay to include either 5/2 (which would add 29 points) or 5/7 (which would add 13 points). If anyone could part with somewhere between 68-97 points for this price, I (and my sons!) would really appreciate it!

Hi,

I do have points to rent but I cannot rent them at $7.50. If you are trying to save money and if your dates aren't absolutely set in stone, then it might be more beneficial if you could change your dates to Sunday through Thursday - 5 nights checking in on May 4, 2003. The total points would be only 65 points for the full 5 nights instead of 97 points.

I believe we are all on a tight budget with this economy, that is why I would never rent my points for under $10. If you can't pay more then a set amount, have you considered shortening your stay?

If so, maybe we can work something out. I have 100 points expiring next summer which you can probably rent. But if you are looking for such a low price per point, I would have to rent all 100 points to you. Please reply or e-mail if you are still interested.

I must say, however, that I'm surprised that some people on this board act like the price I'm offering to pay is unreasonable. I have rented points numerous times in the past from wonderful DVC owners for substantially less than $10 per point, so I know this is not an unheard-of price per point. It's fine if certain people need to rent for $10 per point for economic reasons. It should also be fine if I make a request that someone else can fulfill. I shouldn't be made to feel bad because I have a limited budget or that lots of other people have no problem paying $10 per point. Having rented points before, I am fully aware of how to arrange my stay to maximize them. I also understand that reducing the length of my stay would reduce the number of points needed -- that should be obvious to anyone.

Having said all that, I appreciate the people who have offered to work out a deal with me for my trip next May. As it turns out, my mom may be able to use her points to reserve a 2-bedroom at one of the DVC properties for the week we were considering, so I've put my point-hunting on hold for the moment. If this plan falls through, however, I will definitely post again.

Hey, if you find someone willing to rent points, esp. for the Epcot area, for $7.50 each, no one can blame you for looking for a bargain.

I think some of the responses reflect more that you seem to be surprised that no one, so far, seems willing to fulfill your request. We members know what those rooms cost us for cash, even with the member discount, and the reality is that even paying $10 a point is an incredible deal, with exception of the Fri-Sat stays.

I actually wasn't surprised that no one had responded when I wrote the second post -- I know that anything less than $8-9 per point is a great deal and appreciate any DVC owner who's willing to negotiate with me. I just felt that some of the responses to my post were a bit unfair in that I was treated like I didn't know how the process works. Despite the fact that I'm not yet a DVC owner, I can completely sympathize with those trying to get the best price for point rentals. I also understand that monthly maintenance fees, mortgage payments, taxes and other costs must be factored into any rental deal. I was just hoping that someone, for whatever reason, would be willing to make an exception to their regular price for that number of points. I certainly don't want to take advantage of anyone or cause them economic hardship in doing so, however!
