We have decieded to go for 4th of July this year and we have never been at that time of year. Does anyone know when the parks will be open til. What kind of fireworks and shows do they have?

I'm interested too. This will be our first trip over the 4th. The only thing I know is that it will be very crowded.

We are searching out info too- this is what I found at Deb's
www.allearsnet.com/tp/fojuly.htm
it lists fireworks not sure how up to date it is also see my question I asked a week ago- still waiting for more info we'll be there with 100,000 of our friends :rotfl:

Hi,
We went last year at this time. Yes, it was crowded and hot but
we still had a great time. The parks are open late go to this link
DIS park hours page. scroll down and plug in the dates of
your trip and it will give you projected hours for each
park. The only question I have is how the EMH will affect the hours?
The best advice I can give you is to plan. Know which parks, on which
days, you want to go to so you can plan your PS's. Use fast pass and
go as early as you can to the parks. During this trip we stayed part of
the time off site(points) and some of the time at the poly. When we
stayed off site, we did the "Early entry park of the previous day" plan
and when we stayed on site, we went to the EE park and then hopped
to another park in the evening. I'd go at this time again. Good luck.

If you decide to go to MK, plan to arrive early. The park has closed to new guests the past few years.

I have been like 3 times on this time of the yr. I love the fireworks and the way they are set :cool1: :hourglass siimultanously over mk and the logoon. I was told the best display was at Epcot but have yet to experience it.
Yes it is hot, humid, and crowded, but if you prepare, dress comfortable, takes breaks, keep going to sites like this before your trip you will be good and Disnafied . Also the contempary has a special buffett where you can eat and see fireworks from the california Grill but it is expensive.
Last time i visited(2004) fastpass was ineffect, but the times there was no fastpass and no emh and i stll had no pbroblems because of sites like this and the unoffical guide. All and all HAVE A GREAT TIME. I am not going back until 2006 and my DD iS with child so i am already planning 2010. the DB will be six by then.

Thanks for the info.

Our last few trips have been in August, so we intend to use alot of the same strategies for this trip as we did those...fastpass, indoor attractions alternating standing in line, etc.

Does anyone have an idea of when the MK would be closed to new guests---say by noon or early afternoon? I realise that it depends on the crowd volume, but does anyone have a guess?

I think this past year it closed early afternoon. We got there around 11 and had no problem getting in. It was miserable in the MK though that day. Wall to wall people. I also did not enjoy the fireworks that much. They were only 10 minutes long and Wishes was MUCH better. I found out after coming back though that they may have abbreviated the show though last year due to weather and crowd concerns (there were apparently some fights breaking out). If I ever go at that time again, I will probably go to Epcot instead of the MK. IT was busy but manageable the rest of the week.

What do you mean closed to new guests? Do you mean new for the day - I will go early but paln to hop parks so do I have to stay in or can I come back that day with a stamp or do you mean non on property guests I thought they were always open to onsite guests can anyone explain!! :confused3 :confused3

I was there last year, but avoided the MK (went by on the monorail on the way to Epcot and it looked wall to wall bodies. Went to Epcot and it wasn't so bad. They had Illuminations and then bonus 4th of July fireworks. My DD's loved it.

We'll be there again this year, but have a PS for O'Hana at 8pm on the 4th going to watch the MK fireworks from their.

Minnimama- it is my understanding that you are guaranteed admission to "a park" if they are reaching capacity, but not necessarily a park of your choice - if you are staying onsite. Even if your hand is stamped they may redirect you to another park which is not at capacity yet. If you want to be at MK for the fireworks, I would suggest you not leave.
