We're headed down for a short trip this weekend. Just planned it yesterday and got our hotel on priceline. :thumbsup2 Not going to do parks, maybe water park. It's DH & I and DD almost 8 and DS 5.5 :)
We are most likely going to go to DTD on Friday night and want to eat dinner there. DH loves Rainforest Cafe. :confused3 I'd like to try T-Rex. I think kiddos would enjoy something different. Open for some other suggestions.

Saturday for dinner we need something. Could even be off-site. Any suggestions?

Know any great discounts?

Ohana is booked for Saturday night. :(

For Downtown Disney I would recommend Earl of Sandwich. As for another location have you looked into Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, although I am not sure if you can get an ADR this late since it's very popular.

Also a great offsite restaurant I would highly recommend is the Bonefish Grill and there is one located at 7830 West Sand Lake Road, which is in the Dr Phillips area.

At DTD - we love Earl of Sandwich too, but also for a sit down, LOVE Fultons!

For a second non-park meal we also love Kona, WCC (although it gets some bad reviews we love it), or head down to BoardWalk and go somewhere there...

In Downtown Disney, we always do Rainforest Cafe for dinner and Ghirardelli's for dessert (yum).

We went to BJ's Restaurant one night when we ate off-site. It was fantastic, and the portions were huge. (there is one in Orlando and one in Kissimmee)

I've also heard all excellent things from several of my friends about Mama Della's (if you like Italian). It's in the Universal area (near the Portofino Bay Hotel, I believe).

Wolfgang Puck Express is my favorite restaurant in the Downtown Disney area. It's considered counter service, but nearly everything on the menu is of extremely high quality. I have tried several dishes and have never had a bad meal there. It's definitely a great option.

As for another non-park option, a lot of the Disney resorts have wonderful restaurants! Would your group like Boma or Sanaa? It's hard for me to turn down an opportunity to visit the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It's such a beautiful place, and the restaurants there are fabulous. I also love Kona Cafe at the Polynesian and Kouzzina on the BoardWalk.

Hope this helps!

T-Rex was a lot of fun for my family when we ate there in February. The food was VERY good and the portions are huge! If you do decide to eat there, ask to dine in the ice caves. :) The theming to this restaurant is awesome!

If you would still like to eat at the Polynesian Resort, maybe check the menus for Kona. The food is good and you still get that wonderful Poly feel. And if you time it right you should be able to watch Wishes from the beach! :thumbsup2

If you want something that might be a little more fun and interactive for the kids, I would recommend Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge. The food is good and it's a lot of fun! Plus the resort is gorgeous!

My bf and I actually went to T-Rex for dinner last February and we enjoyed it! We got a great seat next to a very friendly Stegasaurus and our meals were more than decent.
If u have a wait, I recommend going to the bar for a drink. We got good drinks there (with an adorable souvenir glass)! I got myself a margarita, which was HUGE and I enjoyed very much. And for the kids, they'll love the fish tank theme in there, it's pretty neat.

So would you prefer an on-site restaurant for ur second meal? A resort restaurant?

We might do Earl for lunch if we get into town early enough on Friday. I've eaten there, DH hasn't. We've done CM and enjoyed it, but DH seems to want totally themed out. lol. We have a Bonefish.

WCC is tons of fun and good food. My kiddos aren't big eaters. Haven't tried Fultons, Kona, or BoardWalk. I really want to go to Boardwalk.

Katie, My DD is Katie and my DS is John. lol. Ghirardelli's might have to be done. I've heard of Mama Della's, I think a review on the podcast maybe.

Wolfgang Puck is yummy! Haven't done express.
I would SO love to do Boma, Kona, or Kouzzina.

That's good to hear! Ice Caves, I'll try. Wishes is a no go on both nights. Sad.
The kids might enjoy Whispering Canyon.

Second meal, I'm not sure.

So, I called and got Rainforest Cafe for 6:00pm on Fri and T-Rex on Sat for 6:15pm. I might change one or the other if I come up with something else. I mean, they are so similar. Aren't they?

Your children will love Rainforest and T-Rex! :cool1: (The food is similar.)

We would choose HOB and T-Rex, but our children are older than yours.

Although I really do like Rainforest Cafe, I'm going to have to say that you should check out Raglan Road. I haven't been there, but my dad was at a conference last year and ate there and Fulton's. He said that both were very good, but he absolutely loved the atmosphere at Raglan Road. When it comes to food-he knows what he's talking about and we're headed there on out next trip. I also had a friend go there with similar tastes to me and she HIGHLY recommended it!!

I would go with Rainforest over T-Rex. I thought the menu at Rainforest had more choices, the food was better, and the decor was a lot more interesting and entertaining. You can always venture into T-Rex to look around.

That being said, I would pick Earl of Sandwich over both. I love their food and it is the one spot we visit every trip. Our last two Florida visits have to been to Universal, and both times we went to DD to eat at EofS. I wish there was a franchise in my hometown.

As for resort restaurants, I love Kona. We've never had a bad meal there.

Wolfgang Puck Express
Flying Fish @ the Boardwalk

Earl of Sandwich is good at DTD. I know it's not a TS place, but it's worth it.

Another vote for Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express.

And then afterwards don't forget to go to Goofy's Candy Co. for dessert! :)

Wolfgang puck express! so yummy! I have tried a number of different meals here and I've enjoyed every one!

Hey, what about House of Blues? I'm going to call tomorrow and see if they have an opening and if so, I'll get one of those certs on restaraunts.com.
