Our friends' son's baseball team will be coming for 8 days in July and need rooms for all players and families. The tough part is that some of the kids on this team really can't affford ANY amount of money. We are all pitching in, but will need to find a fun/clean place that is very inexpensive. We are considering some limited service properties that serve breakfast, but wanted to know if any of you have a suggestion of places for us to call. We would be open to condos if the price was good. Will need 4 people to a room for a regular dbl/dbl hotel room.

I would appreciate any suggestions!

I don't really have the offsite info you need, but has the team done fundraisers? When our boys went to the Dixie baseball nationals we held car washes, hot dog sales, bake sales, etc. and put the money in one account and then it was divided between players to help compensate traveling costs.

What about a vacation home? You may be able to find one for that many people for less than $1000 for the 8 days. Throw in some groceries and it may work out. There are many nice communities with large homes that dont charge that much. If you will have transportation then it is doable.

Look at vrbo.com for homes by owner.

Thank you both. We will be doing several fundraisers. I will look into home rentals, too. I appreciate the information. If anyone has any more thoughts, please keep them coming. Our parents group will be meeting soon and I want to give them all the suggestions I can!

What about a vacation home?
That was my first though when I saw this thread. When I was researching the different properties, I was surprised to find some had houses with as many as six and seven bedrooms. Perfect for a baseball team or two :)

Be sure check tripadvisor.com for hotel reviews. Also call the hotels to see if they offer a group rates to baseball teams.

I know when I was playing basketball we call around to different hotels to see if they have group rates discounts. Always try get a free breakfeast and only have pay for lunch and dinner for the players. Check Hampton Inns they have a pretty good free breakfeast.

I agree that a house may work..there are alot with 6 and 7 bedrooms and they are very nice houses with their own pool too. I dont know all the sites but I think some have already been listed but that sure sounds like the way to go

Thank you all. We will definitely check into a couple of large houses...this could make this a very special trip....especially with a private pool. If any of you have specific companies you have used for large houses....please let me know the names. I so appreciate all the great information!

my husbands cousin is staying next month in one at Cumbrian Lakes (?) I think its called. There are alot so make sure you check the distances from the parks etc. and get references. Many are owned by British people who rent them out

I would also put in a vote for looking at a number of vacation homes, it would REALLY bring the cost down for the whole team. As well as accommodation costs it would give those families that are really tight for $$ the chance to eat breakfast at the villa and maybe get pizzas/takeout in the evenings.

Renting direct from an owner is usually cheaper, but it would be more difficult to make sure the houses were all in the same area. You could use a villa management company to ensure you get all your houses at least on the same development. There was a topic in the last week that gave a link to a whole community of owners that all owned property on the same development. Using them would guarantee that the team werre all close to each other.

The past couple of years we have used Prestige Vacation Homes in Davenport. They have a great website prestigevacationhomes.com you can check out. They have houses with up to 6 or 7 bedrooms. You can house 2 people per bedrroom plus 2 on a sofa sleeper. You would have your own pool. Houses are really nice. Of course when we stay there, we cook breakfast at the house. Publix is not far away. You would be appx 15 minutes from the parks.

if your kids are playing at WWoS - then find something in Kissimmee - cheaper and generally closer than Lake buena Vista or Orlando.

if they are playing in the Osceola County Stadium - then you want find something is downtown Kissimmee (not near WDW)

I would recommend Sunset Lakes. It is very close (About 4 miles) right off of 192 (you could take the back way to WDW past Animal Kingdom).

It is an excellent location, but an older community so the prices are lower than Windsor Palms or Emerald Isle. It is right down the street from both of these communities.

There are several listings on www.vrbo.com. I have an owner that I rented a 6 bedroom from that was really nice and we only paid $800 for 7 nights. It was a last minute rental but I think you could still get it reserved for maybe 150-200 dollars a night.
