We are traveling with my FIL in September. He threw a monkey wrench into my plans by offering to pay for 1 day at Universal. While I am excited to go(never been) it is messing with my ADR's and meal credits.
Here is what I had planned

Sept. 24- Dinner T-rex
Sept. 25- Dinner 1900 Park fare (hopefully...still haven't managed an ADR)
Sept. 26- Breakfast at Boma.....no dinner(F&W day)
Sept. 27- Dinner Raglan Road
Sept. 28- Universal day
Sept. 29- Dinner Narcoosee's

As you can see, this plan uses only 6 TS credits and my package includes 7 TS credits. I really do not want to lose those meal credits. My options are to either plan a late dinner at Disney after we return from Universal (I have a ressie at via nappoli but not sure if we will be too tired after universal), add another TS breakfast, or change one of our current ADR's to a 2 credit restaurant or dinner show such as HDDR.

What would you do if this was your plan/dilemma? DO you think eating at VN after Universal is doable? We plan to spend the whole day there as it is our only chance to soak everything up. TIA for any help

I wouldn't rush back on your universal day. We love all of the big breakfasts on property. Our favourite is Chef Mickey's. It's our must do every trip. That would be my suggestion. :)

What are your arrival/departure days? You do only get credits for each NIGHT you stay, not each day. If you're arriving on the 24th and leaving on the 29th, you've already got all your TS planned. Or do you actually have another day there? And do you mean that Park Fare would replace TRex? You have them both listed for dinner on the 24th.

Universal is a big park or i guess two really you will miss alot if you leave to rush for dinner i too would add in chef mickey breakfast. Another option depending on flight times home do breakfast that day before leaving.

Sorry, I fixed the dates. I had mistyped. We are actually arriving on the 23rd, but it will be late so we are not doing any dinner that night. This is why we have an extra TS credit :)

We plan to stay until Universal closes ( they close at 8pm that night) so the dinner would be really late.
Also, return flight is too early for a TS breakfast on the last morning:) I probably should have mentioned that

Then I'd just add in a breakfast on one of your other days. We sometimes like to do a late breakfast so that it's almost a brunch. Hit RD for the first couple hours, break for breakfast/brunch, and then skip lunch. Ready to eat again for dinner!

If there's really a 2-credit place you wanted to try, go ahead and switch something out. But don't do that just to use up a credit. Stick with the places you really want to eat.

And I think you'll be tired by the time you get back from Universal--I wouldn't plan anything more than a QS at the hotel for that night.

I wouldn't plan any meals the day you go to Universal. I would also leave the hotel to be at Universal at rope drop. We were there the end of May and they opened both parks early. I would plan on going to Universal from open to close to get to see everything you want to. The food at Universal is cheaper than at Disney. You don't say if you have park to park and how old the kids are. You can find lots of info on the Universal thread on these boards. Have a great time.

Have you thought about dinner on your Epcot day? I know that you plan to snack all over the park, but perhaps a late dinner that night would be nice. I don't see where you are staying, but if it is AKL, maybe try Sanaa. If not, there are plenty of lovely choices in Epcot and in the Epcot resort area.

If you cannot secure your 1900 PF dinner, maybe try a 2 credit meal at teh yachtsman or Jiko. It probably is too late for CRT, but that would be fun as well.

We are staying at ASM resort. I did not book dinner on epcot night judging by how full we were last year after F&W. Maybe if it was late it would be ok.

Okay, so you are traveling from ASM to AKL for breakfast that day and then to Epcot. I am not a fan for too much traveling so I probably would not add more at the end of that day. If you did not want to eat in that area, I would skip my TS meal that night.

I would not add dinner on your Universal night. If your family is hungry perhaps grab CS.

The only other thing I see that would make sense for my family is to plan one more 2 credit meal because I don't like to waste credits.

I have never had dinner at Artist Point in the Wilderness Lodge but have heard really good things about it. I just checked to see what is available Sept 25 in the evening and saw The Boathouse DTD (2 Credits but I bet the family would love it), Artist Point, Yachtsman Steakhouse. If I was going to burn 2 credits, I would make them count, so I suggest looking at the menus and see if any of these restaurants work for you.

i dont think you will make it back in time after US all day, plus you wont want to rush to try and make it anyway. i would switch to a signature if i were you. just my opinion.

How about a pre-park opening ADR at BOG on an MK day? Might be hard to get at this point, but you could stalk for it.

I agree with PPs about post-Universal and post F-W, no TS.

how about changing one of your dinners to that really special '2 ts' dinner at the grand floridian,(can't remember the name) but I hear that it's so incredible if you have the credits to use.... and for Universal, there are SO many great restaurants at citywalk on your way out of the park, don't worry about eating at disney that night! close the park down and stop at something that appeals to you right there! that's what I would do in your situation....

If you are only planning on staying the day and not late into the evening/night, then VN afterward is totally doable. The question is, do you want to cut short your Universal day? Seeing how it's just one day, I would probably not want an ADR hanging over me, just in case I do want to stay at Universal until closing. I would probably opt for adding a breakfast ADR in on one of the days where you only have a dinner booked.

We do have a BOG breakfast ADR already, but that is only a QS credit. Than you though

I wouldn't do Via Napoli on your US day. I think you will be too tired and, as another PP mentioned, there are some great places at CityWalk, or just do QS when you get back to the resort. Is T-Rex a must-do? If not, why not try The Boathouse? It's fantastic and that would take up that extra dining credit. Or HDDR! So fun! Or, I would just pick another TS breakfast or even lunch (though it doesn't seem like you are a fan of the TS lunch?!)

I would suggest NOT doing Via Napoli upon your return from US. I'd allow yourself to be flexible with plans that day to stay as long as you like and not be pinned down to a reservation time upon your return. That being said, I always hesitate to burn a dining credit on breakfast unless you're big breakfast fans (we're not), because it's really not a great "use" of a credit. My vote is to double up and hit a dinner show or another signature restaurant. Maybe drop T-Rex if it isn't a must-do and swap that out for HDDR or another signature (I'd suggest Yachtsman or Flying Fish if you like Narcoossee's).
