please could someone tell me where the nearest supermarkets are and how we can get to them as we dont have a car? all so how far away is wallmart or publix? thanks:thumbsup2

nearest must be publix at I-drive south & 192

drive to osceola pkway, cross under I4 keep on Osceola pkway. Make a right after Gaylord palms on Idrive south, and turn onto the Publix parking lot first left before reaching US192

Without a car I wouldn't know. I would probably call a taxi.

The other relatively close store is a Goodings just off 535 north of DTD, but it's soooo expensive.
Super target is quite far away on 192

You can also order online and have your groceries delivered to your resort hotel.

you can have a look at this article http://www.themouseforless.com/tripplanning/dining/gatheringgoodies.shtml

There is a Publix on the 192 near Celebration and a Goodings at the Crossroads next to DTD...The Hess gas station across from DTD also does a wide range of goodies or you could use the Garden Grocer, who deliver to your resort.

It easy to get to Publix...you just catch the 56 Lynx bus from the TTC get off just outside Old Town, cross the road walk past the Harley Davidson store and go round the corner and you'll be in the carpark! It really doesn't take long at all. Goodings is much more expensive but you can get the 50 bus from outside DTD or TTC and ask to be dropped outside The Crossroads. Personally I'd go for Publix.

There is a Walmart on the 192 as well. The 56 lynx bus goes past it, just ask the driver to stop there.

We,ve used the Publix by Orlando premium outlets. Not too far from DTD by car. Do your grocery shopping after you've attacked the outlets!

what you after? if for sodas, crisps, beers, wine, krispy kream, bread, butter. cheese ham ect.the 2 Hess garages are like the 7-11s
You can get to the on the Disney transportation to down-town Disney, get of at the west side(next to T-Rex)and walk 400 metres to it,then walk back 400 metres back and catch a bus back to your resort,If you are getting beers make sure there in a carrier bag

If you're just after some bits to keep in your room then delivery is a great way to do it

We've used Garden Grocer 4 times and they've always been great. Try have a big selection on line. The prices are reasonable and delivery has always been on time.

Means you can have stuff waiting at your resort on arrival.

I do love exploring American supermarkets though so I understand if you don't want to FO down the delivery option. But after a long day of travelling it's nice to get to your resort and to be able to make a sandwich and have some water in the comfort of your room. Also you can get a crate of 24 bottles of water for less than 2 bottle would cost you in the parks!

I could make a day trip out of supermarket shopping in Publix! :rotfl: Sad I know but its one of my highlights of going to Orlando:) Spend AGES down the isle with the boxed cake/brownie mixes are alone..

The nearest one will depend on whereabouts onsite you're staying. Where are you staying?

We often go to the Hess to get beer - 18 cans of Bud for $13 rather than $6 a drink in the resort!

We always take our Tennis bag and DS has it on back weighing him down when we go back!

Probably our best tip ever.
Thanks Paul
You suggested this to us in 2008 & we have done it each visit since. will be doing it armed with our wheelie bag this year. We get 24 packs of water, you need to ask for them as there are in the back. Dh often nips over to restock the beer.

Norman (DH) will be forever grateful.

From the All-Star resorts, the nearest WalMart is the one at the junction of W Osceola Parkway and Poinciana Blvd. There's also a Publix in the same location. (Left turn off the Parkway for WalMart, right for Publix.) A really straight-forward journey because it's on the same road as the resort. A Mears taxi would cost around $15 each way (plus tip) and you'd pass through one toll plaza in each direction (as you exit/enter the Osceola Parkway).

The Publix chmurf mentions is closer, but obviously further from WalMart. The Publix at the junction of the 192 and the 429 Western Beltway, in the opposite direction, is about a mile closer, but there's no WalMart there (although there is a Super Target).
