has anyone taken the peggys cove/hop on/off tour, and bay of fundy railroad adventure. what is the best dining-- early or late, all we have ever done is late. is early dining better? i know that the late dining runs into the pirates party as far as eating because it starts about an hour after you finish dinner

The railroad adventure got horrible reviews from the first cruise to Canada...I actually had it booked and cancelled it the reviews were so bad. DCL even refunded a portion of the cost to those who took the excursion.

I didn't talk to ANYBODY on that first Canada cruise who was happy with the railroad adventure. I'm surprised they kept it, unless they made some dramatic improvements to it since then!

No matter how you get there, I would definitely suggest a trip to Peggy's Cove. It was absolutely beautiful there. I'm not sure I'm going to make that trip this cruise because there are other things I'd like to do, but we plan to return to Halifax and will most definitely go there again!

St. John = booked St. Martins & Bay of Fundy Adults Only. Thoughts? Alternate choice = river cruise. WDYT?

Halifax = booked Peggy's Cove/HOHO. Thoughts?

I've heard that Peggy's Cove was beautiful, but is there enough time to do that as well as a few things in Halifax. I would love to go to the Citadel, the Maritime Museum, Cows, Nova Scotia Crystal, maybe the brewery....phew...not sure if we can fit everything in!!

We took the afternoon excursion to Peggy's Cove. We left the ship sometime a bit after noon and were back on board by 3:30. In that time we rode out to Peggy's Cove, spent enough time there to enjoy it (it's a small but beautiful town) and then stopped at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery to see the Titanic Graves. I'm really arguing with myself about going there again, but I think I'll just wait until my next trip up there. DH and I liked Halifax so much that we're planning on taking a vacation there within a year!

There's plenty to see right near the port, so you can walk around there before or after your excursion and see quite a bit.

Hey everyone. My hubby and I will be on this cruise with you all. It will be just the two of us, we're leaving the kids at home with the grandparents. We are taking the Aug 12th cruise also with our kids. We couldn't pass up the ITY rate for this cruise. We would love to do the FE if you can add us. I have a rental car booked for St. John but will just walk around the pier and do the Citadel in Halifax.

For our Aug cruise we are renting a car in Halifax and driving to see Peggy's Cove and the Fairview Cemetary on our own. In St. John we have a private tour booked.

It's a little odd for me to be doing the same cruise a month apart but it will be nice to get to do some of the stuff we miss the first time on the second cruise and also to be able to make the first cruise all about the kids since hubby and I will get our alone time the following month!

Not sure about the excursions, because I'm still trying to decide what DH and I feel like doing! But I do know that on the 2 night cruise that we just got off of, they were taking reservations for Palo at 1pm in Rockin' Bar D. Just make sure you pick up the Navigator when you get to the port and look for the time they were doing it. I think they were there for about 2 hours.

My husband and I are looking forward to the 12 September cruise, not in the least because I’ve found your group of Disney enthousiast. I’d like to meet you folks and participate in your meetings, but not having any previous experience and coming from Europe, I’m rather reluctant to participate in the FE stuff right away.

Therefore I’d like to ask you if it’s possible to attend to your meetings without participating in the FE? How do I subscribe for the different group meetings?

Steve, you are welcome to join the group meetings, you do not need to sign up for the meet and greet at 2:30 at Promenade Lounge, just show up. The FE exchange is totally separate, and only those folks who want to participate need to sign up for that. I do not know of any other meeting than the initial meet and greet on the first day, but someone else may set up something.

Early or late dining is usually decided upon your eating preferences, early dining is usually more crowded, it can be a rush to get back from excursions and get ready for dinner, but you eat at a more normal time, while late dining is more relaxed, but very late - getting out between 9 and 10 pm depending upon your group. It is usually more difficult to get early dining unless you book early (unless ship is not very full), and while it is fairly easy to switch from early to late dining, it is very difficult to go the other way.

I wanted to update my FE information. I have 11 people going all together BUT, I'm only going to include my husband, daughter and myself on the list bc it's too much to ask for everyone when I'm the only one doing FE.

I'll be including my room number soon, as soon as someone tells me it (my goof, I have no idea where I put my book with the information in it!)

The finished FE should be about 8" wide. As far as length goes, it depends on how deep you'd like the pockets to be, if you'd like space between them for your background to show or if you'd like one right below the other, etc. The pockets themselves are usually at least 5" deep (finished) but some people have said this can be a little shallow for larger gifts. I would say a finished two-pocket FE could be anywhere from 18-22" long. Remember to allow an extra couple inches at the top to fold over and sew down to insert a dowel into for hanging.

Long story short, there's no right or wrong way to make a FE The only standard that most (but still not even all!) people try to keep to is to have it about 8" wide so it fits against the wall space under the fish and doesn't poke out into the hallway or into the doorway too much.

Thinking of doing this cruise with DH, DD11 and DD7.

Anyone going who has two daughters ages 11 and 7? We cruised on the Magic this past June to the Bahamas, and met a family on the disboards beforehand with two DD's. They had a terrific time on board, so I am trying to do it once again! Spent lots of time in the clubs together, saw shows together and, of course, swam together as well.

Not booked yet, as DH may think I am insane for wanting to hop on another boat 2.5 months after we got off one but I may surprise him for his bday later this month.

Anyway, anyone who has DD's and would maybe like to start an email buddy thing, PM me or reply here. Thanks!!

I will add you to the roster, we are on the first Greece cruise also.

If you are in GTY status, you usually get a room assignment a couple weeks before sailing, I will just not "GTY" in the room number column, and will update the list just before sailing with all the new room numbers and changes. Some folks may change rooms (it is sometimes possible to upgrade at the port at a reasonable price, sometimes Disney upgrades for no apparent reason), and those room changes could be passed out at our 2:30 get together at Promenade Lounge, or sometimes someone volunteers to keep a list of room changes on their door that all can check. Anyway, it sounds like you are interested in the FE exchange, so I will make that notification on the roster.

Don't worry about asking questions, we were all new to all this once! On the roster I am keeping, I have a column for Fish Extenders.

2:30 is fine with us also!
