Hi, the cheapest I can find is driving to Bangor and flying from there. I live in Fredericton and it is a ridiculous price to fly from here. Just curious as to where everyone leaves from?

i live in freddy beach to. we fly out of portland. in dec 06 we went with delta for 175$ round trip each. this aug 07 we did with us airways for 190$ round trip. check with jetblue.

also check the website www.kayak.com and input your dates and airport.

keep checking every day for 1 week and you will see the price difference. can be as high as 100$ per person overall.

any more? pm me

We flew from Halifax in Feb on aeroplan miles as no connections from Moncton.

In Aug we flew from Moncton as the price was about the same when you consider hotel, meals and gas (both ways from Moncton to Halifax).

The price would have to be substantially low for me to consider driving to Portland and incurr the time, gas, meals, parking and perhaps hotel charge.

I also live just outside Fredericton and have flown out of Bangor several times for us it was not worth the extra traveling time to fly out of Portland

One tip for flying out of Bangor is to drive down the day before and stay at a hotel most will let you leave your car and even drive you to the airport this is cheaper than parking at the airport

Hi kroy2004 and welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

We also choose to fly out of Bangor, however, in 2006 I got a Aerogold VISA and from now on we will be using those Aeroplan miles to fly from Fredericton to Orlando. I now have enough for 3 flights. It will be wonderful to drive 15 minutes to the airport instead of 3 hours to Bangor! :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful first trip to Disney World!

Hi Kroy and welcome to the DIS !

I'm in Fredericton also, and fly out of Portland mainly cause I can never get that great of a price out of Bangor..

I'm curious for those who fly out of Bangor -- what carrier are you getting these great rates with?

Hi Knox,

We flew for $215 round with Delta. This upcoming trip will be out of Portland as I have a 186.00 credit when purchasing tickets for friends. Half of my trip should be near paid for (just my son and I)

Charley

How cheap can i get with JetBlue for first couple of weeks in December?

Barring a seat sale (which in effect in 2007 for the pre- Christmas travel period)... the standard fare from Portland Maine is 104$ each way. Taxes on the connecting flights mean it all works about to about 248$ round trip - taxes and fees included.

*EDIT: I see these have been reduced again to 99$ each way which means a roundtrip of $238.50 including taxes etc.

One note - The Direct flights have less airport taxes and fees and therefore, you can actually save a little bit of cash by waiting till the direct flights are announced and then booked a direct JB flight.

Thanks very much for the other info!! Much appreciated.

Knox

We have always got the best price on Delta from Bangor by booking 330 days out. We have never seen better prices from Portland. Also the extra travel isn't worth it.

Thank you everyone for the info. I should of waited to book but over eagerness to plan this trip got to me .

I booked return out of Bangor for September for 2 people, $588 through expedia. I thought it was pretty good price when I saw it. Of course I have to account for gas and hotel. I wish it wasn't so expensive to fly out of Fredericton, the drive home seems so long! Gotta save up those airmiles ;)

It would have to be one heck of a seat sale to match the prices for Maine. We live in Moncton, go to Disney every year, and always drive to Bangor. We are currently looking at prices for August 16-30. Moncton to Orlando with WestJet is $3200 for 4. Bangor with Delta is $1800 and Portland with AirTran is $1050.

Guess where we are not flying out of????:goodvibes

I have flown out of Bangor many times, portland once and Manchester, NH once. But I am right on the Maine/NB border (not actually Fredericton like my profile says) and its only 2 hours to Bangor and 4 to Portland so I've never bothered with hotels before or after flights. I've never seen any flights from Canada that are even close to the prices I can get from flying out of Maine.

I wish I could've scored a great deal flying out of BGR this time but we didn't decide to fly until recently and PWM had much cheaper options.
