How much further is Portland than Bangor? About 1.5 hours? It looks like Portland is becoming the logical choice - unless I can get some airline passes from work! LOL

Bangor to Portland is 2 hours if you stay on I-95 or 1.5 hours if you take the I-295 'shortcut' which cuts off most of the turnpike.

If you're leaving on Jetblue.. their direct flights depart Portland at 2pm, so in most cases, it's an easy 'same day' drive.

Where about is the I 295 cutoff? Before or after Bangor?

It looks right now, like we may be flying on AirTran. They have the best prices and there have been several praise posts on this forum about them. However, if Jet Blu comes up with a seat sale for August, we will go with them for sure.

The 295 is after Bangor... around Gardiner. I'm pretty sure if you use Mapquest for directions it will automatically use this shortcut!

And if you do happen to have to stay overnight before your flight (or after).. or just have some extra time.. there are several outlets nearby in Freeport.
