NBC vent-Celebrity Apprentice related

Yikes, OP, that was annoying. I feel your pain. But what I did was tivo all of C.A. and when we went to watch it last night, I was fast forwarding through all the commercials.

We watched LOST while C.A. was taping. I do stay away from my computer completely when any reality shows are on that I am tivoing ... you know from TAR to Survivor to Idol to DWTS' etc etc.

But that was so wrong of NBC. :headache:

I'm venting, so I apologize ahead of time. :lmao:

Alright, I understand that when shows are live on the east coast they air them "live" ie. recorded live on the west coast. It is just one of the things you learn to deal with when being on the west coast. So when the family watches these types of shows (like Survivor) we do our best to avoid any way we learn the winner early (no FB, DIS, EOnline, etc.).

That being said, could someone please explain to me why NBC would air two commercials, one for the Today show and one for Jay Leno, during the west coast feed of the Apprentice that said, "Celebrity Apprentice Winner Bret Michaels" on the next airing of those shows? :scared1: They hadn't even announced the winner on the west coast yet! Thanks to those commercials, we didn't even need to finish watching the Apprentice. I know the commercial for the Today show aired around 9:30 pst because it was right after the kids went to bed. So a half hour into the show, DH and I know the winner. Really? What was NBC thinking airing those commercials? :headache:

Yeah, I understand they want to promote the Celeb Apprentice winner and the shows he will be appearing on, but couldn't they have simply said, "Watch Today (or Jay) tomorrow as they sit down with the Celeb Apprentice Winner." Anything along those lines would have been fine and it wouldn't have given anything away. UGH!!!

I'm not absolutely sure but I'll take a stab at it.

It depends on whether this spot was embedded into the show or someone played the promo at the wrong time. Either way it was the problem of whoever edited the show if embedded or the local station if it was placed locally.

I've been in the dept that places commercials and promos for years and yes, crap happens. I'm trained to spot the discrepancies, mostly due to spots not being dated or place correctly, and usually, if it's a paid spot, the discrep costs the station money because the client doesn't have to pay for it. In this case the client is NBC itself so probably the most that will happen is someone admitting to an OOPS.

OP here...sorry if I spoiled it for those of you who DVR'ed it. So wasn't my intention. Especially, since that is basically what my vent was about.:thumbsup2

I did go to NBC and sent them a complaint, saying basically what we all have said (word promo different, watch when they were aired, etc.). So far the response I have gotten was the standard thanks for the email, due to our volume of email we are unable to answer everyone's comments, but be sure someone will look into it. But really what are they going to do? Re-air the episode without those particular commercials?

I just needed to get it off my chest. So thanks for letting me vent! :wizard:

I would have to say yes... but then I'm not entirely certain why Holly was still there, so this was a no brainer for me. Almost every other project manager whose team lost was fired - Holly managed to lose TWO of the three projects she headed... she never should have made it to the bottom two to begin with.

ok, going to put my flame suit on, but here it goes - did he truly deserve to win? I didn't get to watch it this year because too many shows, too little time. BUt I watched him on his VH1 shows and I have to admit I was shocked to hear he won this. I would love to hear the thoughts of those who did watch the season.

in a similar vein-

it ticked me off a couple of weeks ago when i was watching top chef masters (the first airing of the west coast feed-5 p.m., so it would have aired at the same time as the east coast prime time airing), and towards the end of the episode when it was down to 2 of the chefs to be cut. right before the elimination segment, bravo runs a commercial about the following week's episode and who do they show in scenes for the nest week? one of the two up for elimination:mad:

Yes, they do that later for the same night. I'm watching "In Plain Sight" on USA when "Top Chef Masters" first airs. So, I watch it an hour later, when they re-air it. But, already, they've changed the commercials to next week's preview. :sad2:

I saw it, too. I was not happy. It happened before during Top Chef but it was the later airing, I was really surprised when it happened this time during the first show.

Not to minimize the OP's vent in ANY manner (TV Guide did something like this a couple of weeks ago, to a much lesser extent, when its listings stated the final three teams for Amazing Race  almost two weeks before the finale), but there are advantages to being oblivious to commercials :teeth: I don't know how I tune them out, or I'd tell you all.

PLEASE! Whatever chip is in your head that does that, send one over to me too! I go crazy if I can't find the remote to mute the sound on my TV during commercials. :headache:

You could change the channel - to clarify tone, I am not being snarky.
It's just I can't tune them out either so I watch tv with a remote in my hand and have my main show and my watch during the commercial show. :thumbsup2

I too am kind of oblivious to the commercials on most shows - I think it comes from working on the computer (surfing the net or whatever) it happens on more than the commercials though - I sometimes have to rewind a whole section of a show because I don't know how they got to whatever they are doing etc. So I am with you on that one Kaytie

Yes! After seeing some of his Rock of Love shows, I thought he was kind of a joke, but then he really redeemed himself on Celebrity Apprentice. The guy is a SUPER hard worker, motivated, patient, kind, and creative. Although he might not have the organizational skills required of an actual business executive, I thought he did a fantastic job.

Anyway, OP, I feel your pain. I was doing my best to avoid spoilers until I could watch the finale, but I failed to anticipate Facebook friends putting his win in their status updates. :headache:

That is what a good Admin Asst. is for!! :thumbsup2
