Is there something special about the GS Warriors that I’m not aware of?

Current standings

DH and I are planning to go to Dallas and San Antonio in March. We’re definitely going to see the Dallas Stars NHL, and just for curiosity we looked up the Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs NBA games.

Nosebleeds resale for the Mavs vs Warriors start at $95 on a Wednesday night.

The week before Mavs vs Miami Heat start at $42.

Spurs vs Warriors

The next night Spurs vs Houston Rockets

Any explanations?

Steph Curry
Is it his retirement tour or something?

For the Warriors at Mavericks game, a regular (not resale) seat near center court about 7 rows up cost $1000. Some resale seats closer are asking $1500.

If we do decide to see NBA, it will be the cheap Rockets at Spurs game. The Spurs have a 8-35 record and lower level resale tickets at the corners of the arena can be ours for $75.

Not that I'm aware of. He's just one of a handful of NBA players that draws larger crowds when his team comes to town (along with guys like LeBron James).

And pity the poor fan who buys a more expensive ticket to see "the star" play, but then "the star" doesn't play because of injury or something else.
Yeah, the NBA has been trying to curtail the "load management" stuff (with fines, etc.), but in the end, there's always going to be games (usually on the road) where the elite players take a night off, unfortunately.

Steph Curry being coached by Steve Kerr.

Heck, I would go just to see Kerr cause I was obsessed with the Bulls during those championship years. He has won 9 NBA titles between his time as a player and as a coach.

They just draw a crowd. Supply vs Demand.

If you’re not committed to attending a game, try waiting until a half hour before tip off and see if those resale prices drop.

The Kings moved to Sacramento 39 years ago. Prior to that the Golden State Warriors were the closest thing we had to a local team. There are still an amazing number of people who still consider the Warriors, not the Kings as their local team.

When the Warriors are playing well, they are an incredibly fun and exciting team to watch. Despite them not having the best year, they always play to sell out/near sell out crowds at their home court.
As others have said, Steph Curry and Steve Kerr are a big sellers.

So you think people who consider the Warriors their "local" team are running up the ticket prices for their games in San Antonio?

Could be. Texas is the number one state where Californians move.

No, we’re not dead set on seeing NBA basketball. We probably wouldn’t decide until the day of the game. Maybe we’ll see if resale prices drop for Houston-San Antonio.
