We are leaving this Saturday on the Fantasy, and I have a few guys (young and not-so-young) in our group who are concerned about missing the NBA playoff games. Will they be broadcast onboard? I am hoping so since I have already assured everyone that they will be able to watch.

Thanks so much!

Hi - they have in the past broadcast NFL games on the Funnelvision outside, that would be a great way to catch a game. If not, O'Gills sports pub will most likely have the game. The only reason i would expect that they wouldnt is some sort of broadcast restriction based on the network. Not sure if ESPN or a normal broadcast of ABC/NBC or CBS would carry it.

Have Fun!

Go HEAT!:cool2:

I don't know if this is helpful because I don't know anything about sports but on Monday night, May 26th, on the Dream they showed the "NBA Playoffs: Pacers vs Heat" from 8:30pm - 10:00pm in the 687 Pub. It looks like the only NBA game they showed on our 4 night cruise. I have no idea if it was a live game. The other nights it says they showed "NHL finals" which I guess is hockey but I can't imagine they would play hockey this late in the year so maybe it's something else or they were showing reruns?

The NHL playoffs are still going on. They usually end in the middle of June. The Eastern conference finals will be on ESPN which you should get in your room. The Western conference finals is on TNT. They might show it on the funnel vision but if not, you will have to go to the bar and watch it.

I have a similar question. I am looking at booking a cruise at the beginning of February. I would assume at least the sports bar will have the Super Bowl on right?

We have sailed during major sporting events and don't assume they will be shown except for things like the Super Bowl which was shown on funnelvision. Sometimes they show playoff games and sometimes they don't even in the sports bar. I have asked why and was told that it depends on the network agreements.

Since DCL keeps it in the family if it's on ESPN/ABC it will be available on the ship. Major sporting events such as the Super Bowl will be shown but otherwise if its not on a Disney owned network they probably wont be showing it.

We were on just before March Madness while the conference tournaments were running and they only showed the ones on ESPN and nothing broadcast by CBS or FOX.

I have been on during March Madness and the men's games were shown more than the women's games and men's games are not on ESPN or ABC. That being said it really depends on the CD and what they push for. In the Med last year we had basketball and ice hockey. Again it depends in where you are , agreements made, and what they can pick up. You will have to wait to see.

I am a diehard Thunder fan and was extremely disappointed last week on the Fantasy. Did not show one game, and even though the pub stated they were going to show the NBA, they only showed hockey. In room on the special events channel was also hockey or soccer. I would think that the Finals would be on somewhere on ship, but I haven't experienced it yet. The ESPN stations onboard show a lot of soccer.

Good luck!

Do remember if more people in bar want to watch hockey or baseball they would put that on

So do you know if the pub chose not to broadcast the game, or they weren't able to, for some reason?

We are in the Med on the Magic for the NBA Finals and even though those games are on ABC, I am very doubtful we will be seeing them. :worried:

if games are on ABC they will available in the room at a minimum. Playoffs on TNT and ESPN were not readily available in the room. As far as the Pub, all screens showed hockey and it was packed. I did not ask if the basketball was an opten.

Seeing the games in the room would be better than not seeing them at all, but there is still the time difference to figure out. But thanks for giving me a glimmer of hope!

This makes my heart stop. Die hard Thunder fan here too and sailing on Monday. Sure hope I can watch game 7. Cause there is going to be a game 7!
