I apologize as i haven't followed this thread but did the NBA pay Disney in advance for all the rooms ? Just wondering what the cancellation policy is

IMHO- They would have been booked under an entirely different contract than any of us see. The costs associated with bringing them in, modifying the hotels and then un-modifying the hotels- that’s waaaaay too much ri$k for WDW to take on without payment guarantees in the contracts. I can see WDW having to take a hit if COVID broke out as it not breaking out is a shared responsibility but beyond that and natural disasters I cannot imagine their lawyers approved anything.

No other group of workers could pull this sort of work stoppage without losing their job. I have no respect for this type of job action.

I remember when PATCO union tried this. President Regan warned them return to work or your fired. Yes President Regan fired them.

Non-government union workers strike all the time and don't lose their jobs.

There is an emergency NBA Board of Governers meeting for Thursday. I doubt anything will happen until after that meeting so I'm not sure the games tomorrow will happen.

How does the NBA Player salary math work at this point? Have the players secured their normal pay (I recall they were facing losing some pay if they didn’t return) and are working on bonuses or something since this is the playoffs?

From this article from 2017 there was a $20M players pool for the playoffs so the champs get $3.3M to divide amoung the players. Likely a higher number now but may have been adjusted for this weird season.

From what I've been reading I think that is the player's conundrum. I think many want to go home to their communities and fight for change there but I think there is also a sense they might be able to do more in Orlando with the huge platform they have with TV and everything going on but they are not sure how best to use that. I think that is why they are asking the owners for help not that they want the owners to do things for them but want help on figuring out how best to use their platform in Orlando for good. I think they want to stay and play but they also want help in figuring out how to do that AND fight for what they want at the same time.

I’m not sure that’s the case. Their family’s can join them by next week. Are the living conditions ideal for them? Of course not. But at the end, they’re playing a game for a lot of money. I think they’re just fed up with what’s going on around this country, as a lot of us are, no matter what color our skin is, and some people forget these are human beings as well. If they decide to call it all off, I would back them 100%. But as long as they’re given a platform during and after every game, I want them to use it.

I do too. I'm a conservative republican and generally pro-police but everything starting with the floyd killing has opened my eyes to the fact that there are changes and reforms needed and I'm on the players side in this. I'm going to leave it at that since we don't want the thread locked.
