I have seen that many people don't like the value resorts all too much. I personally never been to them so I am wondering what is up with the "value" business ...

We've stayed in ASMu and the CR. If it weren't for the great deal we got on CR (one wing was lewased by SOG while it was being renovated) we never would have stayed there. Even with the good price, it was not worth the extra $20 we spent over what it would have cost to stay at one of the All Stars. Other than staying at SOG, we will probably only stay at an AS or at POP. The others are not worth the extra $$ IMHO.

I have been to deluxe, moderates and also values......and we do not mind going to the Values at all....we love Movies.....no slide at the value pools and no hot tubs.....only one sink in the bathroom and that is it......we do not spend alot of time in the hotel so Values are good for us ......This past April we stayed at a moderate because hubby wanted to HOT TUB it.....Deluxe was at the Dolphin and we loved it too......I like them all

so tell me are you trying to start some trouble here???? Can't wait to hear the explosion about this one- woohoo!!!

The real answer lies in what you're looking for to have the vacation you want.

My family stayed Value (ASSp) twice. Our two children were under the age of 6 both times, so having two double beds was fine. The theming was exciting for them, and the pools were just fine for them to cool off. The food court was large enough for us to eat with ease, and getting the kids food was relatively quick and painless. We didn't plan to use any other amenities because of their ages (bike rentals, sit-down meals, spend time in lounges). Our main focus was the parks and the pool.

We then 'moved' up to a moderate when the kids were a little older, staying at POR. We rented bikes, and the slide at the pool was something they enjoyed. We found ourselves spending a little more time at the resort and enjoyed the varied areas we could find to relax.

Our last trip we splurged on the WL, having seen it on our POR trip for a character breakfast. The amenities there were well worth it since our kids are both teens, and we ended up splitting time between the resort and parks. Having a queen-sized bed AND bunk beds made everyone comfortable at night. My husband and I could spend time at the pool with the kids and enjoy cocktails at the poolside bar. I enjoyed relaxing in the mornings in the spacious lobby, in big comfy chairs, while my family slept in peace back in our room. Indoor corridors meant not worrying about scurrying in the midst of daily summer rains to get from place to place. All in all, our stay there was far more relaxing than I would have been able to get at a Value.

We probably would not return to a Value, simply because what they offer no longer fits with the way we like to vacation.

We had always stayed at the value resorts until last trip when we stayed at PORS. I thought it would be great. It was a long walk to the bus and at night walking back some of the areas seemed very dark and to be honest I did not feel entirely safe walking the long path at night with just me and ds. I here there is a great pool area but I never went to it because I like to spend time at the parks and got in late and was tired. I think that for people like me the value resort is great because I do not pay for all the extras I do not use. We are going back this Aug and we will be staying at POP it is a good fit for us.

We stayed at Pop earlier this month. Our first Value stay. I would do it again, although I don't think DH will be going back. He loves his hot tub too. I loved the huge food court (which we don't have at WL). But I like the table service at deluxes too.

My only complaint (which isn't even about the resort per se) is the buses were packed no matter what time of day because the resort holds so many people! But everyone squished in to make room!

Ah, I get it now! So basically the value resorts are just mainly the "basics" a place to rest your head at night, somewhere to grab a quick meal, and maybe a pool or two.

Right?

The only resorts I've stayed in so far were Coronado Springs and the Swan, so I now understand the difference. Kinda sucks living near the Disney area - I don't get to do the whole hotel thing.

I'm a value girl. The deals I get as a resident make it so I can take more trips. It's just my BF and I and we sleep and shower in the room. We're at the parks all day so we don't want/need fancy.

The value resorts are like a Motel 6, but a very nice, very clean, very Disney themed Motel 6.
We've only stayed at POR and ASMo. DW and I both LOVE POR. I thought ASMo was also a lot of fun and I'd have no problem staying at Values in the future, but DW didn't care for it and would much rather stay at POR. But since our family is now too big for a single room at POR and our trips are always on a budget, we're trying 2 rooms at Pop Century next September.

We've stayed at the POFQ (loooved it, theming is great), the POR (hated it, mold and bugs in room but the grounds are stunning), WL (what's NOT to like???) and the Contemporary (3 times, get the hint?). We're gonna try Pop this August and I'm keeping an open mind since this will be our first value. I like the idea of not bustin' a lung for a deluxe but we'll have a better opinion at the end of the trip. It all depends on what you want out of a hotel. We like the CR because we like to get over to the MK early and we walk FAST so that's our thing. We're gonna try POP because it's in between MGM and AK so maybe we won't be spending a lot of time "commuting" which is something I hate!:rotfl2:

Mill, have you thought of doing the family suites at AS Music? It looks like they might be a good solution for your family, and maybe cheaper than two rooms?

Just a thought.

The values are fine, and they are just that, a "value."
We've stayed at Values a few times and they have suited our purposes fine. We do not have kids and this time, are planning for more relaxation, so we are going with a moderate.
Staying at a value will not at all diminsh the fun.

:thumbsup2

It's wonderful that Disney has accomodations for every budget. It doesn't
have to cost a fortune. I love that. :thumbsup2

The family suites are actually a little more expensive than 2 rooms. If we had a need for a kitchen area, I'd consider it. But for now, we'd rather have 2 bathrooms and 4 beds.

I've always said that what I'd really love to see at WDW is a value or moderate option that costs 50% more than a regular room and sleeps 50% more people. It wouldn't even have to be 50% bigger. Just big enough to have 2 double beds and a sleeper sofa.

I think that a lot of families are in this same position as yours is, and I think it is somewhat odd that Disney hasn't catered to this demographic yet in a really meaningful way. I would think that they would consider adding options to the moderate resorts that allow families with many members to step up from the values but not have to go to a delux. As Disney is a family resort, this would make sense in my opinion, for whatever that is worth.

I think it would be profitable for them as well. A larger family booking a single room at Disneys inflated prices instead of having to book multiples at Disneys inflated prices would be far more likely to stay on site where they would eat Disney food and buy Dsisney merchandise.

Hello - I'm local Disney (25 miles), and like you have never been to the value resorts, except to "preview" them as an "insider". Rooms are smaller (approx. 260 sq. ft.) than moderate resorts at (315 sq. ft.). Value resorts (in my opinion), reflect a decor inside and out that is more "kid" oriented. A limited number of family suites have been added to the Value resort accommodation offering . Furnishings are nice but not as upscaled as the moderate resorts, and of course furnishings in the moderate resorts can't in any way compare to that of the deluxe resorts. The value resorts do not offer extensive dining choices, and the pamper your self amenities, but I have never heard any negative comments regarding them.

Value resorts were created at a price point to allow all folk who wanted to stay on property to have a chance to do so. Of course, there are people who love the Value resorts and wouldn't trade them for the Contemporary or Grand Floridian (as they are sometimes called "too uppity"). Then there are the people who love the Grand Floridian and wouldn't change to the Animal Kingdom Lodge, it all comes a matter of personal choice, thus Disney giving guests the option of choosing from Value, Moderate, Deluxe, the Cabins at Ft.Wilderness and the DVC Vacation Villas.

Values are ok, I think its mainly a personal choice. Some folks are the "A room is just some place to lay my head type", some are the "I want every concievable luxury disney has to offer type". My personal choice is deluxe but not because the values are bad. My reasons:
1) I'm a pooh type gal :rotfl: Ain't no way my dh and I are spending 9 nights in a small bed, without someone spending some time on the floor.

2) I like indoor hallways, leaving my room to go right outside reminds me too much of a motel.

3) I like balconies. Nothing beats cooling out on my balcony after a long day at the parks.

Hmmm...my family really enjoyed the values. I've read many stories in which others have been pleased to stay in the values as well.
At this time in our lives, the high end resorts are just a waste of money, for us. But that's our family. We're not in the resort that much so we won't pay extra if there is no need for the extras that they offer.
Now when Dh and I 'grow up' we may be hanging out at the mod. resorts.:rotfl: You probably would never find us paying more than $250 per night for any room though- no matter what time in our life we're at because we're just not that extravagant!! :rotfl2:
