Navigo pass for RER

Just wondering if anyone on their trip used Navigo for the RER and how you went about getting the cards. We went to DLP in April but as we arrived on a Saturday we couldn't use the Navigo Semaine so spent a small fortune on buying one off RER tickets.
In January we're going for five days into Orly so I was hoping to get All Zone Semaine for E24 and then that'll do us for the journey to / from Orly (providing we skip Orlyval) back and forth from ValD'Europe and a trip into Paris.
BTW if anyone has Navigo cards they're no longer wanting I would be interested in recycling them - seems you can only topup the plastic cards, you can't have Navigo on your phone

We used the Navigo Semaine pass frequently on our trips. The thing with the Semaine pass is that it is only valid from Monday until Sunday and that sales for the next week start at Friday the week before (and can not be used right when you buy it, you can use it next Monday until Sunday). So that explains why it did not work on your stay last time.

So if your 5-day stay starts at Saturday, I would buy a day ticket which can also be loaded to a Navigo pass and then buy a Semaine pass on the Monday after. If your stay starts at Tuesday, then just one Semaine pass would be sufficient.

You can also download the Bonjour RATP app and there you can also top up your Navigo pass. Last time we went for a weekend from Friday until Sunday and I bought the Semaine pass at home on Thursday so that we could use them on our weekend in Paris.

Super. On our next trip we will arrive on a Tuesday and leave on a Saturday. I have the Bonjour RATP app. I am not sure how to get the actual physical card. The RATP app suggests once I have a card I can top it up using the phone app, but I don't have a physical card in the first instance. We know how to get to DLP from Orly without using OrlyVal so Navigo Semaine should work perfectly for us. Just not sure how we get the cards. thank you

You can buy a physical pass at most RER stations I assume. We bought a physical pass at CDG a couple of years ago. Be sure to bring a photo (like one you have on a passport) as you need to have a photo of yourself on the pass.

Great thank you for the info. There is a RATP centre in Orly so I can ask there are bring the passport photos then as you say once you have the card it's a lot simpler thanks again

I buy my tickets at machines as I go and book of billets for the metro system if visiting around paris. Don't forget citymapper appScreenshot_20220907-071907.png tells you the upfront cost, which for you would be 5eu each way!!!
