Navigating the My Disney Experience (MDE) Web Site and App

It seems to have about A 10 sec. Lag between selecting a option until the page loads and that's on wifi. So i just wonder what it will be in the park even with wifi in the parks if everybody is using the application.

Everythime I try to check my plans, it tells me I must first read and accept ToC and would I like to do that now.

When I tap 'yes' to read them, my iPhone freezes.

I'm not having a problem with booking dining, however as stated earlier in the thread even on wifi ( I have super fast Internet and wifi (7,117.2 Kbps) it still has about a 10 sec for page loads which is not s big deal but I'm worried that in the park it may be worse.

I used it in the parks a couple weeks ago. I tried using the parks' wifi with varying results. Sometimes it loaded fine (though never very quickly) and sometimes wouldn't load at all. I finally gave up on it and used my iPhone's data connection exclusively. It also was never fast, but it pretty much always worked.

I'm in Canada and still cannot get the new website with the My Disney Experience tab but I do have the iphone app. I have tried on muliple computers with mulitple browers.

I emailed Disney IT about it on Thursday and here's what I got back:

If anyone, particularly UK users are still having trouble, I have also found that the portal seems to take a frequent dislike to Firefox as a browser. Using the same machine running both Firefox and Windows Explorer the site will tell me it's unavailable in Firefox and load normally in Explorer. :surfweb:

How were the ADRs reserved (on-line or phone [main dining line or DVC])? If you called DVC, they are very bad about getting the phone and email entered on the ADRs which makes them not linkable. Try calling the main dining line (407-WDW-DINE) and have them pull up your ADRs and see if the phone and email are missing (or different).

Thank you for the reply. I had forgotten I posted about it til just now.

I reserved them over the main dining line. Originally, I had everything written down (times and ref#s) but for some reason...lost that paper. So now, I have just the ref#s, but not the times...so that's why I really want to get them up on the system.
 
I've also made some updates to the front page to reflect recent changes in the layout and options on the MDE web site. Such as the ability to add things like fireworks, shows and character meets to your My Itinerary pages. Previously, [some] of these options were only available from the mobile apps.

I had created profiles for the family members who were traveling with us last February. I was able to link some of my dining reservations to my profile but some of my dining reservations got assigned to my daughter's profile even though I made the reservations. When we showed up at the restaurants, half of the time they were listed under her name. It was really annoying.

I want to avoid that problem for our next trip in December. I would like to delete those profiles so that I don't have a problem with the dining reservations getting assigned to someone else. But unfortunately I'm not able to delete these profiles because the message I get is that they have current reservations. These reservations expired two months ago. The ironic thing is that the only profile I was able to delete was my husband's, and he was the only one I wanted to keep.

Does anyone know a fix for this? Does anyone know if calling the tech department will do any good? My 180 day mark will be on June 3rd, and I would like this fixed by then. This is crazy that Disney can't seem to fix their website and apps yet.

I had the same problem today. Not sure why it thinks there are still reservations for profiles that really don't have any (or that are all in the past).

I think when you make an ADR online, it will automatically assign your profile to the ADR. You don't have to add any other profiles to it. So if there is only one profile, I would think there wouldn't be any issue with different names listed as primary.

I tried to use the app with my iphone when at the parks the week before Easter. It was slow and irritating. I tried with WIFI and I tried with 3G/LTE service. I had a horrible time getting the app to respond and go where I wanted it to go. At home, you can hit a link and it would eventually go but at Disney you can't even see that the link has been touched as there's NO response. I had to quit out of it because it was causing me more stress than the "10" crowd level. They have to really increase server support if they are going to have everyone accessing the app for their fastpasses, etc. Also, the link that says "Here & Now" kept telling me I wasn't at Disney when I was (even though I had the location services ON.) What a horrible piece of software design and implementation.
 
Its very hard for me to separate the software guy in me from my assessment of the MDE apps (website, mobile apps), because on the one hand I know how much pressure Disney's IT must be under to get this thing going, but on the other I know things have to work. Right now, it just doesn't. At least not well enough to consider it (IMHO) anywhere near ready for prime time.

I've forced myself to play with the mobile (Android) version (1.3.3), and it has been a mixed bag. Sometimes it stalls on startup; sometimes, it hangs (or crashes) loading reservation information. And some of my ADR's are just plain wrong, but because I know they're right on my confirmation email and on the "main" website, I'm not worried about it. The bigger problem is performance - the thing is *crushingly* slow doing even the most basic operations - let alone trying to reserve something. I can't imagine trying to do something "in real time" with this thing having its current latency/lag issues.

I've *got* to believe Disney's going to have to get the basic functionality ironed out - reservations, maps, logging in, etc - before they'd *dare* turn this thing loose for things like real-time "new" FastPass reservations across all the parks all at once. That they might turn that on in the app's present condition boggles the mind.

Like I said, as an IT/developer myself, I know at least a bit of what goes into these things, and what they're trying to accomplish is huge, so I'm not going to bash them for it. Right now, though, what they've released is a far cry from production ready. I'd like to think they know that. Its kinda fun to play with if only to see what works today that didn't work yesterday, but beyond that, meh.
 
We are going with ddil and ds in Oct. I added the mde app to my phone and started putting in adrs. I listed both ds and ddil as people I travel with often. I sent ddil an "invitation" but it won't let her login and view our plans. It keeps telling her that her pw and email do not match. She tried the forgotten pw option but it still told her that they do not match. She has an iphone and I have an android if it matters. Any ideas how to fix this? She is able to logon with my id and pw but wants her own. Thanks.
 
I just completed my online check in. On one of the first sections it displayed my address correctly. But then in the very last section there was a button to verify your address. I clicked it and typed in my info and clicked done. When I went back to the original page with the verify address button my address still didn't appear. Tried it twice and it still didn't work. I went ahead and finished the check in process. My address still didn't show up on the confirmation page when I was finished. Should I be concerned?
 
MDE has my husbands birthday incorrect. It list his birth year as 2013 so it lists him as an infant. I called was told this cannot be changed.
How will this affect my reservations for dining?
 
I had this problem when I was adding people to my friends and family/ travel with list. I made a mistake with my dil birthyear. Here's what they had me do but it was a real pain: delete the person from your list. Delete the person from all reservations. Add the person with correct birthdate as a new person. Add the person back to your reservations. It worked but this was before my 180 + 10 for dining date . It seems they could override and correct it for you, but I am not an IT expert. Good Luck!
 
I tried all last week at the parks to utilize the app, it was useless. I used TP's Lines app for the most part. And the wifi in the parks, anywhere, was horrendous. I generally turned it off and used my data plan.

When you say "useless" do you mean because of the slow speed? Or was the information useless? Or both? What did you get from Lines that made it better?
 
Tried to use the app on my Iphone today.... still not what it should be.
So very slow loading each page, etc.
and still does not show my plans.
example..... online I have selected the parks for each day.... do NOT show up on my Iphone... but are there online.
If I selected an activity or parade it does show up. but if I just selected that park as the park we plan to tour.... does not show up.

It does show "my notes" for the day.
So I have to type in the park we plan to go to under my notes.... pretty annoying!

So still pretty useless app. :sad2:

So, you couldn't use wifi, and had to use your data plan to use the app. But when you used the app, why do you describe it as useless? Do you have any details or examples? Did you use a different app instead? If so, what was better about the other app?

Are we talking about performance of the app (things wouldn't load?)
Are we talking about information from the app (not enough? inaccurate?)

I'm just trying to get details about people's experiences so I can add to the front page of this thread. Then others can learn what works and what doesn't.
