Nausea Factor- Old vs New Star Tours

Hello! I'm prone to motion sickness but was able to tolerate (and even enjoy) the old Star Tours. How does the new one compare? Think I can handle it? Is it more nauseating?

Thank you!

Mary

I did not ride the old version but the new one really makes me sick to my stomach. Last year i took anti-nausea meds and that helped a lot.

Personally I never had any issues with the old version. However, this new one does seem to turn my stomach upside down a bit. Of course, the age factor may play a part as well :)

You may want to ride it near the end of your day just in case. Good luck!

I always got motion sick on ST before the changes.

I tried the new one ONCE, and my motion sickness was even more severe than it used to be on the old one.

I didn't notice a difference in the nausea factor between the two. It's a one and done for me.

I was better able to ride the original version of Star Tours. I could usually "breathe" my way through (i.e., lots of deep breaths), but that doesn't seem to help with the new version. I think it has to do with my inability to keep the 3D movie in focus (it's like watching the scenery go by from a car window...everything is kind of streaky).

I was ok on the old version also, but the new one gets me nauseated pretty bad. I have also tried motion sickness meds but not much better, sometimes it helps me to close my eyes a few seconds lol :)

I forgot to mention closing my eyes too. Between that and the meds I was able to get through it ok.

I was fine on the old one, but have problems on the new version. I've found I have problems on any motion simulated ride now though (Simpsons at Universal Studios almost did me in).

ETA: Except Soarin' which I can do without a problem.

I agree with closing your eyes if it starts to make you sick. Also, if you take motion sickness meds you need to start taking them the day before you go unless it's Bonine. It is chewable and can be taken not long before you get on the rides.

I've never felt motion sickness on the old Star Tours or on any ride. I get car sick though occasionally when I sit in the back seat. However the last time I rode the new Star Tours, I sat in the middle of the back row. I thought I was going to throw up from the start. I kept my eyes closed the whole time.

One of my DDs gets car sick pretty frequently and she does great on Star Tours , same for the old version as well. I have never had an issue on the ride either, however the Tea Cups ruin my day! I get so nauseous!

The new one is definitely worse for me. The nausea passes quickly, but I usually have a moment while riding that I have to look down at my legs and center myself. I've only ridden the original version once and it was in Paris (I'm assuming it's the same ride there?) and I don't remember feeling sick.

If you are prone to motion sickness then you will get motion sickness on Star Tours.

It depends. Since the storylines are made up from random pairings of different "mini-stories", you never know what the motion is going to be like each time you ride now. Some of the stories I find not too bad and others make me a little queasy. But you just don't know in advance now.
