Naughty or Nice? Photo Holiday Wish List 2008

Well, x-mas wont have much for me under the tree this year (nor for DW for that matter).

We just spent $800 to add soundproof walls to the bedroom we're moving into. Then my Corolla needed $1400 in repairs this week. The mini-van will need $800 or so in repairs in the spring. We also need to buy a new dining room table.

If I even think of mentioning something for my photography hobby DW will either laugh at me and walk away or I'll get smacked for being dumb. Though I may be able to get a magazine. Maybe even one of the UK mags. You know, the $12 ones.

:lmao: Yeah....what's up with those :confused3

Santa has already come to my house, too.
SInce May, I have purchased the
--Nikon D80
--Nikkor 18-200 VR
--The nifty fifty
--Sigma 30 1.4
--Sigma 10-20
--Gorillapod
--Kata 465 Backpack

I do think Santa mentioned, though, that there is some room for a tripod in his sleigh....

Wow, and I thought I was bad. Hahaha. Since October I September I have purchased the D60 with 18-55mm VR, the 18-200mm VR, the nifty fifty, a gorillapod, 22gb of memory, an extra battery, an Op/Tech strap, a NDx400 filter, a bag to hold everything....ugh. Listing it all just makes me realize how much I have really spent.

I'm my own Santa for photo stuff. :)

I just recently picked up a Nikon Coolscan 4000 (which is now at Nikon getting repaired, sigh - so it went from being an incredible bargain to an "OK" deal), Cactus wireless triggers, a cheapie hand strap, and a second Vivitar 200mm F3.5 (Komine-built to go along with my Tokina-built one - a very good lens for very cheap). A couple of these were had for cheap thanks to the eBay/Microsoft 25% deal. The last thing that I "need" (cough-cough) before my next trip is the Pentax 16-50mm F2.8 (I'm hoping for new rebates to appear soon), and my Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 will be sold to help finance it. I may also pick up an R-Strap or Y-strap or make my own variation on them.

I have on my wish list:

Gorilla pod
Remote shutter release
The Moment It Clicks
Understanding Shutter Speed

Oh, and I've tried to be nice. pirate:

The last time we were at Disney I told Santa I wanted a DSLR.

I may see a Canon XSi under the tree come Christmas morning. :)

She's a good Santa. :thumbsup2

My list..

new 5DMkll

Canon 580 EX speedliteII

monopod

CF cards

have I been naughty or nice? well can I be honest and say - both? ;)

My requests are simple.

A couple of fast primes to add to my average zooms for my K100D.

A new backpack to carry my equipment.

And a remote shutter release.

Of course, a surprise trip to WDW to see the holiday lights would always be nice. This is the second time in almost 20 years that I am not able to fly down to see WDW decorated for the holidays.

Christmas came early here, I bought myself a Netbook. :thumbsup2

I also found a fairly inexpensive zoom lens that I'd love to have, but I really shouldn't. ;)

I havent really made any camera big related purchases since last Christmas and since I am pretty much my own Santa I think I need to do something about it :thumbsup2
My wish list includes:

D300 or D90 body (went and handled both and still on the fence which to get)
Speedlight SB-600
Nikon 50mm 1.4 or 1.8
Nikon 16mm fisheye
New bag for the new body (looking at the Tamrac Express Pack 8)

Either this Friday or next the auction where I work will be selling the last of a coin collection my grandmother gave me in 1988 (she passed away in '91) and when she gave it to me she told me to do something with them someday that would make me happy. I have been selling small lots since '99 and have invested the majority of it so I figure this last lot I can put into a new camera body and accessories for whatever amount I get.

Well, I'm my own Santa too for photography related things. I have 7 more sports teams on my calendar for the next 2 weeks and with that profit, I hope to have enough to get a Nikon D300.

I could use a few more memory cards and I suppose Santa could bring me those.
And...I've been good!
