I like to budget our utilities so we don't get crazy with electricity in the summer or gas in the winter. Our electric bill budget is $115 a month. Our gas budget HAD been $95 a month--but they reassessed the budget last month, and now it's $122!!!! That's quite a chunk!
Last summer I actually had two months free because of the mild winter--I hope it gets warm soon or I'll be paying through the nose all summer!
And they wonder why people need raises!

I wish that was my gas budget. Last month, we paid over $400 for gas!!!! OUCH!!!! I can't wait until the summer, my electric bill usually runs around $250 then, such a break from my over $500 (including my gas) ones in the winter!!!!

Everything is going up...except our paychecks!:(

I know how you feel. We usually buy our oil in bulk in the summer. It lasts until the following summer, sometimes having some to carry over. We just got the statement today and our stock will be depleated next fill-up.......and it is only the beginning of MArch!!!

Ours went up too, but not as much as yours. Our budget for natural gas was $43, now it's $53, but this is first month we have had an actual balance since winter started. Our balance is $80 - something.
I did look though and this month's natural gas price is almost 2x what it was last month per unit.

I have to say though that our gas company does an excellent job with their budget plan. Our electric company can't get it right though. They have me budgeted for $90 a month. Not nearly enough. So I pay more than their budget amount so my balance doesn't get outrageously high. What stinks is that when I pay extra, they expect me to pay less than the budget plan, even though the balance still is higher. Strange. So I just have to keep working at it myself. The electric is hard to budget though on my own, because I feel the cost fluctuates a lot more than gas, at least in my area.

zulaya, do you by any chance have NSP for your electric?????? I could never figure out how they managed to screw up the budgets so badlly. My Minnegasco bill would never change, and I would often have a few months of small or no payments. NSP however, would change it 3 times a year, and then still charge me a big lump sum to fix it. I hated them. I have since moved and don't have them anymore!

We built new, so this is the first month Minnegasco has offered me a budget payment, they offered $54 a month, which isn't too bad. My old house was $49. I guess we are getting off quite easy up here.

Our electric company seems to do a good job of budgeting for us. It fluctuates every couple of months but usually only by a few dollars and so far we haven't had any trouble with our balance getting extreemly high that I've noticed (don't always check because it's just not been a problem in the past)

I like to use the budget plan for gas, too. Unfortunately, our gas bill went up into that $400 range this winter, too. The budget billing has gone from $112, to $135 and is now at $216. The price has to stop going up and the temps have to go up soon. This has been an all around nasty winter and I'm ready for spring. :(

Wow! I didn't realize some people had gas bills so high. We're on the budget plan and pay just $42 a month. And it has been brutally cold up here this winter!

I wish mine was so low - ours is $170 and our electric is about another $70
