We are flying into Tampa in November and have been watching National's prices closely. I have always gotten the DC discount to show, but, only for 10%. Using that and the DC Free Day cpn, I was getting a rate of 263.00 for 11 days.

Now that the DC discount has gone up to 20%, the free day has dropped to 14.33 for me (does anyone else ever wonder how that can be?? I'm certainly paying more than 14.33!), which is still a lot better, BUT---the new Entertainment book has a 20.00 off of a weekly rental
coupon, which is even better. So, now I have that same full size car for 210.46, total, for 11 days. That averages out to 19.09 per day after taxes and fees.

Just for comparison, I checked Hotwire and got a price of 19.79 per day + taxes and fees, so, it looks like I am getting a really good deal.

Of course, I will continue to check back for further drops, but, just wanted to make everyone aware of that 20.00 coupon.

it all has to do with the base rate after discount.....

so if the original rate is 125$ and you get 25.00 discount on that with the DC discount code.....the base rate is now 100$ which when you divide that by 7 comes out to your approx 14.33$....

there is a point at which using the free day ......is not as good as ....when you have 15$ or 20$ coupons...

hopes this helps........

also, since you are booking more than the week.....you have a weekly base rate with discount and then "daily rates" say 20$ plus for the additional days....the daily rates do not have the same discount applied...
