My youngest DS had a field trip in Glacier National Park on Tuesday. I went along as a helper. The science classes go to GNP a couple of times a year and see how they reseed native plants in the Fall and then participate in reforesting them in the Spring.
One of the 'stations' was seed collecting and preparation. They covered removing seeds from cones of trees and I asked questions about propagating some of the Blue Spruce trees on our property. I was given some advice and referred to a site online since BS does not grow in GNP, they were not familiar with some of the needs of a BS seed.
I think it seems like a very helpful site so I am going to post it here: Native Plants Database
