The drive back to philly took us about 16-17 hours. A shorter time then most people because yes the speed at which most of the traffic was traveling was a bit above the speed limit and we kept up with traffic. It wasn't to bad a drive accept that that we were one of the first cars to arrive at a horiffic accident south of Florance, SC and we were driving a two door coupe. Which I rented because it was just the DH and I and what fun not to drive a mini van around town. Well, if I had know that I would be driving the car home I would have chosen a full size car off the Aisle not a coupe. It wasn't to bad all and all.
Yes, National waived all the additional fees associated with a one way rental. When we checked in at PHL National Counter the reciept they had given me a car turn in was quite a bit higher than my quote. The agent at the counter went to work to try to get my original rate that I had on my email reciept. He got within $8.00 and I said great job and paid the extra few dollars.
The airline tickets sound like it might take a little bit of letters and conversation to get a solution that will be acceptable to me. US air said because they were Frequent Flyer points on AA and that I had purchased the tickets in April I would have until April 30 to reuse each of the 2 half tickets by then. Well, I think I didn't fly because I didn't want to I just would have gotten home until at the earliest Sunday in my estimation. My kids wouldn't have survived if we had waited until there was a flight out. I'm hoping that the will agree that the two half tickets could be combined to be one ticket or I could get my frequent flyer points back. Or a longer time to use the tickets.
All in all I think the situation was handled wonderfully by all the companies that I had to deal with during this time of National tragedy.
GOD BLESS US ALL!!!!!
