National - Standard Reservation says Emerald Aisle

I'm assuming this is a "glitch" in the system because even 30 seconds after I confirmed my booking, I couldn't get the same deal!

I made a reservation today for a STANDARD car with National using my Emerald Club ID number, the EC contract code and their free day coupon for $191 (all taxes, fees included). It is for Dec 8 - 15 (6 days 21 hours). I tried to make the same reservation a few minutes later and it was much higher. I also tried to modify the reservation to add my flight info and it wanted to change the rate. I'm assuming that since I have a confirmation with the correct dates and times, they'll honor the rate - right????

It says Emerald Aisle, but shouldn't it say Emerald Reserve?

Also, if we have additional drivers and are members of Emerald Club, can we simply add them at the checkout booth (ie, we don't have to go to the counter or the kiosk)?

I don't have an answer other than to say what I would do.
1) Keep this reservation.
2) Make another reservation for the same time/vehicle/every option you want.
3) Present the 'cheap' reservation when you get on site. If they accept it, use it. If not, present the 'standard' reservation.

I would ASSUME they would honor the first reservation, but if you try to make any change, they may 'fix' the glitch.

Car rental rates change so often (including mid-day) so I won't assume you ran into a glitch.

I would not keep two reservations in existence for any prolonged time.

I say it's okay to make a second reservation, say, to get a lower rate, but you should cancel the first reservation as soon as you get the second reservation confirmed and print-screens* done.

"Some day car rental companies will have web site crawlers that go through and cancel out duplicate reservations. That day is today." (I'm not sure about the truthfulness of the second sentence and don't remember whose, not a car rental company's, radio spot of more than 20 years ago I took these words from.)

*Requires more than just pressing the Prt-Scn button.

I don't believe rental companies are cancelling out duplicate reservations. They would need more than a name and pickup location. If you put two under your rewards number maybe, but it's possible more people decided to join you on your trip and you want two cars.

Duplicate ressies--that would be us! Minivan rates have been waaay beyond anything I've ever paid in the past. So, I opted to book TWO vehicles, instead. There are 5 adults/luggage. I did book one in my DH name, and one in mine. I have held duplicate ressies in the past while hunting down a good deal, but have always cancelled/released the extra one well before our vacation.
